RCAerodyne 450 size BO105 and Quad Head Tips/Suggestions?
Hey guys, I am new to the runryder forums, been around RCU about 10 years. I mostly flew FW (28% and bigger) till recently and have gotten bitten by the helicopter bug bad the last year or so. I started out with a Esky Belt CPv2 and got pretty good fast so I bought an Align 500ESP about 6 months ago. I no longer fly the Belt CP because the 500 is just so much smoother doing aerobatics so I am going to turn the Belt into a scale heli, my first real attempt. I purchased a Red Bull BO105 fuse from RCAerodyne and the "scale" quad rotor system with blades. I am concered with setting up the 45deg tailbox, does anyone have some pics/tips/suggestions that has done the RCAerodyne setup before?

http://www.scaleflying.com/product_p/kf105rb4.htm

My other issue is the head system. The Belt CP uses a 120deg swash, the head says is works with both 90 and 120s. I have NEVER setup a 4 blade system and I am not planning to use a stabilization system with this head. Any tips/tricks?

Thanks guys, this site has been very informative so far an I will keep you all posted with the build status. Thanks, Derek8819

I have done the 45 deg box on a trex 450. The setup is pretty straight forward. They provide a longer belt you use. I also had to cut the boom shorter. I used a cable pushrod on the tail. The included rod was to stiff.
Good Luck with your build.

Belt CP swash plate uses separate anti-rotation pin, scale flying quad head swash does not (similar to Align swash). You will need to drill/tab for the AR pin to make it work.

Heres a link to Doorman and my UH-1s. They have the same tail setup and may help.

It looked like the scale flying head already has the option to do that extra AR pin, it has a piece of metal that sticks out in the right location are you sure it is not already drilled/tapped?

Does anyone know what the optional Glass/Fiber rotor blades for this head look like that they offer? I am hoping they are the scale looking ones like for the 500 and not the multicolor training blades they offer for the 450s.

Phasing
If you dont intend to use a stabalizing system like the sk360 dont forget to set the phasing for that head mechanicly. I know a couple of guys that are flying 450s without any stabalizing system and they are booth using the older style Align plastic blades. They say the blades are heavy and fly well for multi heads.

On calm days I have no issue without stabilization. None of my 450s has it. However, it does not hurt to get one because it will only make it easier.

AS350 and A109 are using Belt CP airframe and swash.
