I believe 530mm would be the max you could throw on there.

Check the century website. I believe they do 530 FG blades.

Okay, since you're a Canadian :-)

Check our Great Hobbies Clearance sale.

http://www.greathobbies.com/search/...R&srchstkstat=B

These are f/g 530 mm. I've saved you a bundle :-)

Okay, if they are 515mm go for the MS carbons that have been reduced by 82% and now are only $17 CAD.

Be sure to check the blade root dimension. Most modern blades have a root that is thicker than the Concept 30 grip. It's possible to update the grips to a later model Kyosho helicopter that allows it to hold standard/modern blades, but I don't recall the part numbers... I think I saw this in a FAQ on KyoshoAmerica.com.

The blades are 515mm. That's the size I had for my SRX-30. I used both the Kyosho and Revolution brands.

Depending on your version of Concept 30, you have a couple of choices...

First off, a few facts. The Concept 30 DX (also SE and SX version) had the two piece rotor grips. The grip spacing (at the root, where the blade goes) is 8mm. It is almost impossible now days to find blades with 8mm roots.

The DX also uses 500mm blades (as measured from the center of the hole to the tip). Again, hard to find blades that are 500mm long.

The stock DX baldes were made from foam with a fiberglass spar and a hard plastic shell. They are no longer made. If you hunt around ebay, you will find them from time to time. But they are way over priced and sold more as collectors items. Use Caution... if you plan to fly them. The first series of blades were flawed. They later came out with new stock blades that looked the same, but there was a little star stamped into the blade on the bottom near the root end (see photo). If you have the foam blades without the star, DO NOT FLY THEM!

Other blades that will work. Kyosho made a whole series of 500mm blades ranging from standard wood to kevlar. Again, very rare but cheaper since most people dont know about them.

Kalt Enforcer blades and Century Ninja Pro blades will work (both are also 500m length and 8mm root). The Ninja blades are excellent (if you can find them of course).

Lastly, NHP made carbon Pro blades in 500mm (8mm root). These are like gold. I saw a new set sell for over $200 on ebay a while back.

Your next option is to change over your heli to the SR tailboom. It is 15mm longer then the stock boom and it allows you to use 515mm blades. You can still find 515mm blades out there, but they have 12mm roots. So, you will have to also upgrade to the SR blade grips (12mm root). Very simple to do do, all of your blade grip parts work, just swap them. Lastly, if you go to the longer tail boom, you will also need the longer SR tail rotor wire drive and the longer SR tail rotor pushrod.

Next option, buy 515mm blades and cut them down to 500mm.

Final option, and this is what I have done on a few of my Concept 30 SX's... MAH now makes 500mm carbon blades for eletric helicopters (see bottom photo). They are not toooooo expensive at about $80. But they are very nice blades. You will need the SR blade grips. Other then that, they work outstanding!!!

By the way, I know some people will yell at me for saying use "electric" blades on a glow powered heli. But really, what do you think is stronger, 8mm of wood or 8mm of carbon fiber? Thats right, the carbon fiber by a long shot. Also, what blades are more likely to be abused with hard core 3D? Carbon blades on a Concept 30 DX or the same Carbon blades on a hard core Joker heli with a screaming brushless motor? Nuff said...

I hope this helps. -Steve

Any chance you have a part number for those spacers? What are people doing for tail rotor blade replacements for the Concept 30? I just picked up one of these helis recently at a swap meet. Just needs to be cleaned up, main and tail rotor blades, and a new tail pitch lever to become flightworthy. Most appriciative of the discussion in this thread so far.

*** Correction ***

I mentioned above the MAH blades had a 9mm root and needed two 1.5mm grip spacers. I was thinking of another brand of blade that used that had the 9mm grip (those blades are since discontinued anyways). The MAH are 12mm and bolt right on to the SR grips with no spacers needed. I'm getting old and I got confused. I corrected the post above.

As for the Hirobo 1.5mm spacers, they are part number 414-388 FFZ-III BLADE SPACER. They come as a set of 12 blades spacers in different sizes. I forget all the sizes included since I only needed the 1.5mm. Not that you would need them now since I gave you bad info and was talking about discontinued blades.

As for tail rotor blades, pretty much any blade around 80mm in length (stock size) with a 3mm hole and 5mm root will work.

Reference the tail pitch lever, do you need just the lever or do you need the lever, screw, metal spacer and the 2 washers?

Steve thanks for the great info. I've been reading what you and others have previously wrote about SR grips and main blades. Still deciding (and searching) on the compatible parts.

For the tail pitch lever, what I need is the what I would describe as the yoke, the Y-looking piece that slides on the shaft, that has two links on each end, and connects to each tail rotor grip ball. Part number KYOS-H3044. (listed as a set on the rchelibase parts bkdown) Sent a few PM's to people and have been watching e-bay. Thanks again for the info.
