600 packs just get destroyed from day 1.
I just pulled my 600 out of mothballs and go to charge my 6s 5000 packs and it occurs to me that in all the months Ive been flying my 500 size lipos and numerous other lipos in ducted fans e.t.c.

That all my 600e packs are completely screwed after about 10 flights.

I now have 2650 6s packs that have been used far longer than my almost brand spanking new 6s 5000`s and they charge up with the occasional balanceing activity, yet the 6s 5000`s from my 600 do so much balanceing they nearly melt my V/balancer.

All my 600 packs always the same, there f**ked after 10 - 20 flights, yet my 500 packs are all nearly as good as day 1, havent even had to throw one away yet.

Is this normal for everyone else with 600`s?? or just me?

Why are all my 500 packs not loseing punch or balanceing all the way through the charge.

Spity,

I have had the same 5000 mAh 6s packs for 2 years now. Before moving to the Azores, I avereage 2 to 3 flights per pack, per week (non-3D flight). My lipo packs sat idle for about 3 months while moving. All of my packs were out of balance by the time I unpacked them. One pack in particular took several days to finally get balanced. I would charge and ballance for a couple of hours and then let the pack sit for a couple of hours. I did this starting on a Friday and finally by Monday the pack was within .05 of being balanced. I flew the packs and kept and eye on them. So far so good. I think it has to do with not being used for such a long time, but if you are slow and patient with charging and balancing you should be fine.

When you store them are you storing them at 3.8v per cell? This is the maintenance charge and what's on the pack when you get a new one.

proper storage is important (store 50% charged, roughly 3.81v/cell in a cool dry environment)

the trex 600 is very hard on 6S packs. you'll notice the average amperage is much closer to the "C" rating of the pack, where this is not the case on a trex 500.

if you go higher voltage on the trex 600, you'll notice the packs last longer because the batteries are doign the work more through voltage than through amperage.

I run a logo 600 (same size as trex 600) on 12S 2650 right now so i can share the 6S 2650 packs with my trex 500. I get 5.5 minute flighs on both and they come down lukewarm at most, and the data logs look almost identical for both as far as average current vs peak current. these packs last 50+ cycles on my 500 (zippy and turnigy) and i expect with the same loading they will last 50-75 on my logo 600 as well.

in conclusion, go 12S!!!!

These packs have been sitting for over 3 months now at about half charge, I only have 2 packs left now, one Outrage 25c and a Zippy, all the rest Ive thrown away.

The balanceing calmed down a bit about half way into the charge, but I had 5 out of 6 lights flashing for about 20 minutes which was causeing my balancer to get very hot.

Everything said and done, I think Im going to get myself another 500 or maybe a 450 as soon as I have some spare gajungas.

Just ended up with a spare receiver since I crashed my ducted fan foamie, so may aswell put it into the old 600e (Tractor/Flying Anvil)

Should be interesting to fly again after so long, wonder if Il instictively just start flipping and flopping or just hover tail in for 4 minutes.
