Hey guys I know this may have been addressed but I couldn't find any info, My question is can I leave the old antennea in place with the new 2.4 module with built in antennea? that way I can easily go back to 72 mhz for my older birds? thanx

If you buy (or have) one of the older air modules that plugs into the back of the TX, and has the external coax cable between the rear of the module, and the antenna, you'd have to remove the original TX whip antenna. The older air modules came with a plastic insert that screws into the place of the old TX antenna, and that provided a stub on which to mount the 2.4 GHZ rubber ducky antenna.

It made it difficult to switch back and forth between 72 MHz stuff and your 2.4 GHz stuff.

Since then, the new air modules do away with the need to remove the old antenna, eliminated the external coaxial cable, and eliminated the plastic insert to mount the rubber ducky on. The new modules are fully self contained, just unplug your old 72 MHz module, plug in the new air module, you're done. THAT would allow you to keep your old metal whip in place.

And if you HAVE the older style air module, you can buy the new plastic bits to convert it to the new style for about $20.

Thanks for the info tatered. Called on Wed and had it here the next day. $25

Works nice. Looks better than the rubber ducky I had on it and the radio sits on the pegs again (clears the module while on table). New module is really snug now as well.
