One last shot.
Ok my Rave has been sitting for 3-4 months and I am going to give it one last try. Im going to have to rebuild it completely I already have all the parts except the new batteries. What I would like to know is if anybody thinks im going to have any problems with this set up. I had a guy cut a set of 2MM main frames, 3 JR DS285MG servos, JR 3500G Tail servo, CC Ice Lite 50 esc, Rave flybarlesshead, Mikado Mini Vbar, 350 Radix Mains 59 Radix tails, Scorpions 2221-1630kv Motor, and I think Ill go with the Outrage 6S 1300 NRG 35C pack. Now except for the batteries I already have all this stuff so I dont wanna hear wait for the Total G, I just wanna know if anybody sees any problems with this setup before I actually go and put it all together. Also if anybody has a suggestion about a better battery pack id definetly be open to suggestion but I am going to run the 6S. Ive seen that done and its a awesome thing. I see theres new tail gears im definetly gonna get a set of those as the old ones are VERY weak.

Thanks

I used the Scorpion -1630 on 6S Outrage G5 and it was killer but on my Rave it just worked ok. I now an using the -2010 on 6S and now the power is just plain silly. Cannot bog the heli at all. Depend on how you fly, sport, 3d ,smackdown. For smackdown power I would go with the -2010...14T at 75% throttle you will be spinning about 3000 of unbogable power.Alvin

I was thinking of running the 12T Pinion But its good to know if I want more I can get the 2010 . Other than that you think ill be ok? what batteries do you use? Im only asking because I had this bird crash 4 times during fairly easy flying due to mechanical failures and was told my setup was too much and it was all my own fault(funny how there making stronger tail gears now:eekAnd ive only run it 5 times! so im a little gunshy.

Yeah the 12T will be fine on it. On my Rave I am running the NRG 6s-1300mah. I am using the oem gears(white ones) and I have not had a problem. Yeah I have been hearing how the 3D gears are brittle. I will fly the oem gears until run out of them before I order the 3d gears. I hate being a lab rat. Sorry but that is for the R&D team to fly it as hard as they can to find out what are the weak points.IMHO...And if I have any people disagree with me that will be fine. To each his own.
Sorry for the long and boring rant but I had to get it out.LOL

OK so I Have both the original gears and the new "improved" black gears are you saying the black ones have problems too? which should I run? I watched the white tails gears strip out after a slow hovering piro. The reason I decided to buy all the stuff to rebuild it a 5th time was I thought they had made stronger gears!

The new gears are stronger. We have been flying and testing them for a long time. Even through many crashes and the black bevel gears are holding up very well.

I watched Nick, smack the ground at e-fest with his tail, possibly even twice, and didn't mess up the gears at all. I've been using them since they came out, and so far so good. I will admit i had some off and on issues with the white ones, but so far the black gears are really nice.

I had finally figured out how to correctly mesh my white gears ( 1st torque tube ) and had no issues for at least 25 flights.

I then switched over to 4S and because I had to pull tail apart for servo mount I switched over to black gears (only on front) once again no issues after 16 flights and they seem to mesh better. Oh and if I haven't mentioned it lately, I Love My Rave!!!! Oops I have mentioned it lately.

the black gears are definately better, only two issues that i've noticed with them. First, i don't like the way the front black flat tail gear meshes with the 100 tooth tail gear so I use a white one there. Second, the output shaft at the back, the plastic on the gear is a little longer, so if you run the spacer it's too tight, if you don't run the spacer it's a little loose. We run the spacer and shave the gear just a tad.Justin - Team Horizon, Team Byron

Just gotta say it because ive complained in the past, once I got this thing working right it is hands down the BEST 450 I have ever seen or owned. I had some self inflicted trouble early on but now with the Mini V bar and 6S power I dont wanna run anything else. Thanks to all who have helped.
