DX6i rudder channel dead
Rudder channel went full right and stayed there midflight. Luckily I was just flying the MSR around the house. Tried rebinding and two other receivers and same thing every time; full right rudder and the stick does nothing. Bad pot maybe? Anyone know what it costs to get one of these things fixed? I think it is out of warranty.

Thanks,

Foz

Maybe the cost will be shipping only:

The DX6i has been subject to a large-scale recall due to bad pots...

maybe yours is one of them.

And then Horizon Service has been really great about repairs and associated costs.

dkshema,

Thanks for link, that was very helpful. My rudder channel behaves just as described; it jumps around or moves just a little. I'll send it in and see what happens.

Why don't these people answer emails? The auto reply said it could take 4-6 buisiness days for a response an it's been almost a month. It says right on the form to call or email. I guess I am going to have to pick up the phone...jeeez. It's really OK since I've replaced it with a Futaba 8FG which I could not be more satisfied with. I'm sure Futaba wouldn't be knocking down my door answering my emails either but then again, I have never had a Futaba product just stop working. Anyways...just ranting, I feel better now.

I've always gotten an automated "we got your email" response in less than 24 hours, and an email addressing my questions within a day or two.-----

Have you tried plugging a different servo into the rudder channel? Bad servos can also act like that.

Yup Steve, I tried that and 3 different receivers. I'm fairly certain it is a bad pot because the servo monitor for that channel either doesn't move at all or moves erratically. I was actually looking to upgrade my radio anyway but I still like to use this radio for the bind and fly stuff. I'll give them call when I get a chance. Email probably just fell through the cracks. People say they have good customer service so I'm sure it will get worked out.

I'd have to agree Foz, it's definitely the transmitter if the servo monitor is acting up. I will say that they are VERY reasonable in fixing stuff, a lot of times they don't charge anything. I've sent some stuff to them in the past and I usually had it back in less than two weeks. I even dropped my 9303 transmitter and broke off the timer switch and the antenna and they fixed it at no charge. I sure can't say anything bad about their service. My guess is that if it's a bad pot they'd probably give you the same deal.

NO need to call. Go to the Horizon Service Center website, download their form, fill it out, stick it and the radio in a box, ship it to them. You'll get the repaired or replaced radio back in no time.-----
