Which helicopter on Realflight G4 is most similar to Vario Benzin Acrobatic?
I sold my electric and nitro fleet to buy a Vario Benzin Acrobatic (gasser) which is almost ready for delivery in about a week. My friend doing the build tells me it autorotates VERY well with its 725 mm blades.

I've flown a Raptor 60 and 90 before... so this Benzin will be the largest bird I've every flown. After spending so much money I want to take good care of this awesome new bird...

So, my question is... on Realflight G4... which bird flies most similar to the Acrobatic? I've been practicing with the Spritzer (4-stroke heli) and it autoroatates VERY well!!! But its belt driven tail rotor is not driven during autos.

The Benzin Acrobatic has a torque tube (drive shaft)... so it should have even better control during an auto. I've only done hovering autos with T-REX 600s... and one actual auto with a Raptor 90 from a bout 6 feet off the ground... onto snow.

Anyhow... after I get used to my new Vario... I'd like to work up to doing an auto from higher up... but think practicing on the simulator will be the smart thing to do...

Which brings me back to my original question... Which Realflight G4 bird is most similar to Benzine Acrobatic? Let me know what you think... I feel like I am on the right track. I appreciate all of your help.

Benzin Acrobatic
I used the Dominion 90 3D, and plugged in the appropriate parameters --- gear ratio, blade dimensions, weight, etc. --- for the Vario. Works great!

So far... on Realflight G4... I've tried the Dominion 90 3D... and it flies very well, but it is nitro methane.

So, I am wondering if the Spritzer (four stroke) is more similar because it is a large gasser?

I changed it so it has a driven tail rotor and the blades spin counter clockwise like the Vario Acrobatic.

I might modify the Dominion the same way to see how it flies to see if it replicates the characteristics of the Vario Benzin Acrobatic. Thanks for the info.

I am a decent rc helicopter pilot. I can hover in all four orientations... and have survived on real autorotation with a Raptor 90 when glow plug burned out at 10 foot hover.

I've done forward flight with an ION-X... and many hovering auto's with the T-Rex 600.

It will be a couple more weeks before I pay off and receive my Vario Benzin Acrobatic.

This is why I want to find a good bird on Realflight G4... to get myself ready for the Vario Acrobatic gasser.

My friend told me the Acrobatic autorotates extremely well. Of course, he sent me video of an auto and it dropped extremely fast... burning in really hot... of course he nosed it over... but saved it at the end where it hovered for a couple of seconds for a very soft landing.

Anyhow... I would eventually like to start doing higher altitude autorotations for real. But am obviously kinda scared to do it for real.

I am thinking I should just get used to the gasser and avoid autorotations for a while considering the risk of an auto.

Maybe I shouldn't practice them very high? And should reserve autorotation practice to the simulator? I mean, in theory, if I can do safe auto's on the simulator... then I should be able to do it in real life.

Therefore, if I just fly the gasser within my limits... doing hovering and forward flight... I should get a lot of hours of safe flying.

Then maybe... way down the road I can try a real autorotation? Or maybe just wait for that fateful day when the engine really quits? But then again, doing real autos from altitude do build your confidence to save it when the engine does quit.

For now, I'll keep doing auto's on Realflight with the Spritzer... hopefully it flies similar to the Vario. Wish me luck.

Gasser
You can make the Dominion a gasser; just select the Zenoah 231 as the powerplant; remove the smoke element; and select the O.S. 120 as the sound profile. It will then be just about like a gasser.
