I'm tired of losing QuickUK thumb screws (TRex 700)
I drilled 1/16 hole in thumb screw then drilled 9/64 hole in canopy to hold body clip retainers and put body clips thru thumb screws .
Body clips come in many colors .
Ive lost three thumb screws so I think its worth the cost to use this setup.
I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

nice idea, But I dont see why you wouldnt just run the stock setup if you were still going to use the pins. The stock setup is easier to line up and is very secure even without the clips.

Thats true, use what you have.

I played with the V2 quick-release mounts at IRCHA last year and they were pretty nice.

I think you could still use body clip retainers on stock clips so when you take off canopy you dont lose stock clips.I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

theres a whole post about it at HF in the 700 section, another guy came up with the idea and i made it pretty lol.

all the links and details are there.

i found the QR at ace hardware but i posted a link with the same exact one.

I used my bench grinder and ground the key ring hole off and made a nice little button. then used 4 orings as a canopy gromet, on the backside i used a 600e gray dampner to hold the QR in place.

since there made of brass there a little heavier then the alloy $40 set at booya but not enough for me to care and teh price is rite

Jeff,

how and when do you lose the thumb screws? Is it during canopy removal, or in flight?

Put them on your pocket when you remove them - then you'll know where they are

Seriously though, do they vibrate lose? If so, are you using stock frame screws? Upgraded Stainless Steel frame screw remove 99% of vibration cos you can really torque them up - not like the putty bolts that Align supply.

The alternative is to load the thumb Screws with Thread Lock. Whilst you break the seal, the residue is enough to hold in flight.

I've not lost one to date but I upgrade all my frame bolts.
3D?? No - just another input error!!!

Jeff,
Do you use the canopy Align rubber gromets with the QuickUK thumb screws? I do, and they are pretty tight in the canopy when screwed all the way in.
