Which book is that?
Still on the hunt for a book of Andy's caliber but for the electric side of the hobby. With all the online wattage/runtime calculators maybe I don't even need a book covering it all Beautiful Widgeon Pics btw

I was flying my plane yesterday, a 46 size Hangar 9 Twist. I experienced my first 'real' deadstick.
I set it down on the end of our grass runway, about 4 feet from the end, just short of the rough stuff.

I remember having to fishtail the rudder to bleed off some speed, thankfully I was able to slow it down just enough. Had just enough left for a flare, and she set down nice & easy with almost zero airspeed.

I'm glad I got my first dead stick out of the way. I'm very happy it went as smooth as it did. It helps ease my fear of deadsticks.

Deadstick? Yeah so?

Just kidding Dood congrats the twist I believe is a funfly plane with a thick airfoil and weighs nothing I havea similar plane the tribute. It slows down very fast for 3D high alpha stuff.

Keep practicing by shutting down the throttle anywhere in the sky and fly it in at idle without touching the throttle.

Then you can work on my signature maneuver.

a rolling final (2 rolls over end of runway) with a touch and go into a hover pull out and repeat.

Got It !
Take off - climb & go up into a pretty good breeze - but just over the dirt road, at the end of the field - KILL the motor.

Push over to the inverted - come across the field - down wind - inverted , do your two rolls -push over again to the up right in time to land.

or

Take off , snap roll soon as the wheels are off the turf, go into a loop with a humpty bump at the 12 O'clock, snap again on the loop down line and land in the exact spot you took off from.

Either one will get the wow's

GE: me thinks you have your terms confused. a humpty bump is a separate figure that cannot be integrated into a loop - so whatever you are doing, it isn't a humpty.

I dont know about a humpty thats a new one for me I remember the story.

As for signature moves we have a few guy's just friendly compete nothing super spectacular. That would ruin the fun its got to be a building block thing. Mine started as just a roll on landing. One guy's is Knifedge takeoff thats a fun one rolling the wing over on the deck hoping you got enough power to keep going.

Great Planes finally listened and brought the Slowpoke back into production. I always liked that plane, kinda looks like a cartoon plane lol. Anyway I ordered one and got it yesterday so I'm starting to build it. I got the little 50" version, gonna e-power it.

Jim are you in for:
A TREAT
I have one - built the wing up side down so the top surface is flat - as it uses double tapered rib's from tip to root.

Stuck in barn door's and a lil Satio - .26??

ANy way : Has the best - true hard core habit { On demand } of adverse yaw It's a riot -for any one whom has never in countered it.

Roll right -nose points to the left, right yaw , rolls to the left ect and visa versa. The humongous ailerons I put in act as air brakes .

I just need to tame them down - but never have opened it since assembled.

Has a great 0 zero speed stall- landing gear blocks better be Ford Tuff !

A guy I fly with has 2 of them not my cup of tea but i have seen a slow poke haul arse!!!

I would like to see a slow poke bipe JW?

I got a new servo in my ailerons and epoxy hinges on my Hobbyking $60 ARF mini F-86 sabre jet.

Well now I have flown it twice my consensus is its cute but boring as hell!!! Hand launches like a paper airplane no problem just dont do it with a low battery yeah I tried it. just landed after the launch no forward momentum to it. It cant do an axial roll without loosing a lot of altitude. Its fairly fast but I have others that could just eat it alive my Eflite mini funtana with great planes rimfire .10 1200kv is literally twice as fast.

I like it its a very very good bargain but no performance at all. May trade the stock 3cell for a 4 to liven it up.

The little Poke is coming along nicely. I'm substituting a good bit of the rock hard balsa in the kit for Sig contest grade balsa. This thing is going to float like a 2M sailplane when I'm done lol. Anyway here's a pic of it on my mobile workshop in the hotel room. When the job I'm on is done and I get home, it should be ready to cover.

Dang impressive just jumped off the grass smoke system was perfect and when I saw the flatspin I had to clean my shorts!!!!

The effort you turbine guys put into flying just amazes me its a pure love of tinkering an hour or two of prep for 15min flight and a lot of technology in the build also.

Congrats on the plane great job!!

Thanks tryan02 !! .. first flight is always a lot of work, however once i jet is set up right, it can be 10 min from trailer, to fueled and ready ... I don't have a lot of time for the hobby like i used to so its all about time saving techniques .. like plug in wings, with no manual wire or air system disconnects

It does take a while on this one to fill a gallon of fuel and 1/4 gal of smoke fluid, lol
