Nice! Thinking about getting one of those Extra MX's, pretty impressed, but want to do some shopping first.

Anyone else make stuff of that caliber like that?

Yes, Extreme Flight (http://www.extremeflightrc.com) and 3D Hobby Shop (http://www.3dhobbyshop.com) also have great 3D balsa airplanes.

I did not change anything, I have to fight against the instinct to over correct, I cant emphasize how small the stick movements have to be, even half stick will send it into a spin.

Also in corners you can end up noseing down and loseing height very fast, its hard to explain its not like a normal plane to fly at all.

I dont Know how you could land this on a runway with the retracts on, I have to cut the power when its so far out I can barely see it and it still comes in extremely fast.

It is good fun though.

Sounds like a jet.

I have little experience with jets but I have flown the tribute like in the picture above where a 1/4" of stick rolls it into a blur. Luckily Now that I have my own I read the manual and the exponential is very specific for each channel.

Not sure your skill level this may be obvious to you.

The tribute uses huge deflection on the surfaces 3" or more a jet doesn't. So you can move the clevis in on the servo horn and out on the control horn. This will make the controls more linear by that I mean you will be closer when you feed a 1/4 stick your plane will have a 1/4 of its total deflection.

Like linear throttle curve on a heli throttle 10 30 50 70 90 100

set your ailerons the same by moving the clevis's if you have say 1" up total throw at half stick have 1/2" of movement.

I have flown peoples planes that are exactly like you described just a little stick movement and its rolling but if you look at them on the ground you can see that just a touch of stick and its at full deflection.

You got all that stick there might as well use it.

Im going to have to set up dual rates so I can tame it down in flight but still have enough throws for hand launches and landings, like you say going to need to adjust it mechanicaly as Im already down to 40% on my radio.

As long as I dont move the sticks more than 1/4 its OK.

maidened my tribute 36 with OS32 heli motor. All I can say is WOW!!!

I have never had a plane this responsive. The manual actually has suggested expo rates. I have never flown anything of mine with expo but this one is a must! After the maiden every takeoff was vertical into a hover till I fell out and nosed right. I was working on knifedge flatspins which I had no idea were possible. And unlimited snap rolls full rudder and aileron just twisting the thing around. Then harrier landings I never touched down but came close. I have 25º flaperons so it will hang no problem its just the pilots lack of skills.

Very fun plane.

here are suggested expo I have never seen something this strong.

Elevator Low Rate 40%
Elevator Hi Rate (3D) 70%
Aileron Low Rate 40%
Aileron Hi Rate (3D) 55%
Rudder 45%

I can wait to get my aerobatic plane finished so I can start trying some flips and prop hanging like on the sim, Im wrestling with whether to get 4s 3700` or 5s 3700`s.

The 5s packs are nearly twice the price and the 4s packs also fit into my f16, I also have lots of 6s 2650`s I think I may be able to use but not sure, I know people are running both 4s and 5s packs with my motor and prop combo, Ive heard running 6s is extreme for the airframe and very high amps.

It would be good if I could run these 6s packs I have, not sure if I need to change the prop though.

Ive ordered a 14/7 prop and the motor is 600 kv..

[I]Similar to AXi Gold 4120/14, E-Flite Power 46. Roughly equivalent to .46 2-stroke or .65 4-stroke glow engines.

Cracked up my DW today.........
It got windy today right when I got to the field. Not to bad for the first few packs, but kept getting worse. Anyways, I got blown around on a belly landing and snapped the lower vert fuse right behind the motor mount to right around the spar area. Not to bad really, nuthin a little GorillaGlue won't fix I guess. I just hate bangin up my new plane. Oh well, it's a foamie. Sure is fun though!

It's getting there! It's fixed already though. Ready to go fly again. I sure do love the ease of repairing these foamies!

I got an itch for a big plane but my vehicle is maxed out.

For now 64" fuse is all I can do the rudder sits on the console between the font seats and the spinner just touches the back hatch.

CRRC Pro GF40i Kit engine. Nothing sounds better than a open muffler gas engine screaming down the runway. Other than one with a smoke system.
