I had a seagull edge 540 it was 60 size with a saito .100 four stroke great flyer not 3D but great aerobatic flyer.

I gutted it for my Hangar 9 P-47 besides by then I had the Seagull extra 180 size. It was like having 2 of the same style plane so the little edge got sold.

Was just too small 60 size planes just aren't very cool.

the bird will need some work. its going to be my project for the year. like i need to recover the side of the planne, get a screw for the muffler, get some screws for the canopy, adjust the servos, cowling, and the rod that hold the 2 wings. i also need to replace the wood. i got the plane for $75. well it was more of a trade. when i talk to the guy he wanted $75 i gave him my foamy that is like ready fly but just needs reciver and 3 batterys for the t28 we traded him for the bigger nitros.
Heres a picture of the plane.

You can only fly one at a time. And you even fly better if you fly the same plane all the time.

sidenote: went flying today I was hovering 15-20ft off the ground!!!!

I was proud of myself grinning ear to ear like my first heli hover.

I just need to work on how long I can hover. My biggest problem before was trying to do it on half rates.

I was able to hold it long enough it did a torque roll!!! So I went with it the crowd was impressed not sure if I could do it again though.

I am done with electrics they got no soul!!!!

I would rather watch paint dry then see an indoor electric hover. Do it with the you-can-do and get it on video.

looking for your guys opinion on what would be the best indoor plank? we just finished a 220x80 indoor horse riding ring and would like to also use it for flying

I would rather be in a boat, with a drink on the rocks, then in the drink, with a boat on the rocks!

Lost my tribute tonight showing off.

Its repairable but on a $100 plane where do you draw the line?

Any way I was doing hovers on both ends of the runway back and forth. Got down to about 6ft on the downwind end of the runway well you see where this is going? It was 15mph winds with gust above that I got hit fell out of my hover inverted pushed full down elevator and just didnt have the power to pull out downwind that low to the ground.

Moral of the story getting cocky will get you when you least expect it.

Question:

When they say 40 degrees travel for 3d flying, do they mean 40 degrees each way or 40 degrees in total

Im running about 25-30 degrees or so each way and it feels pretty snappy, I can hover on the sim but so far I keep wimping out before I really get a good feel of how much control I have in a hover.

If anyone has Phoenix sim, Ive found I can hover easily with the Shurrican, but the other planes not so easy, feels though the shurican has more control surfaces.

With my real plane at about 25 - 30 degs in normal flying it seems way more responsive than the even the sim, specially the roll rate, thats why I was wondering if I already have enough for hovering or if I will need to bump it up to 40 deg`s each way.

you should be running dual rate throws, in my opinion. run your 20 degrees both ways for normal flying and switch to high rates at 40-45 degrees both ways for slow speed 3D flight. For good 3D, you want these higher rates along with an aft CG.

Stupidity can be cured. Ignorance is for life!

Il try and bump them up then before I attempt to hover, whats it like flying around normal with those high rates, is it possible to control without crashing? dont like the idea of flicking switches, may have no choice though to hover.

Hovering isnt really that hard with the right throws and the right CG I learned it in about 3 days of flying. Yank back on the elevator and work the throttle. The thing is you try to do it lower and lower and well thats where I got into trouble.

As for the insane throws you will definitely want to add a ton of expo.
