Just Curious, How many people still Fly the 30 size Heli?
It seems to me that its becoming a model no one wants anymore. It seems everyone is going 50 size.

I always keep a R30 on hand. Perfect for learning inverted flight. They are not that powerful but they certainly get the job done.

I have a raptor 30 V1 it is my 3 (real) helicopter. Had a Heli-max v2 first, sold it after a year and got a Art-tech falcon 3d V2 which I still like very much and still fly and last year I got my Raptor and I love it so far. I'd like to convert it to a V2 just waiting for a nice offer on RR.
Momentarily I am building a Gaui 425 electric.
But yeah I still have a Raptor and I do fly it

I just gave up on the 30 not for reasons of power or performance. It done very well with the OS32 so it bogged a little at high pitch it still flipped and looped like a champ. I wanted to make sure I had enough power to haul around a scale fuse with authority. So I upgraded to the 50 using the maverick titan tailboom kit.

So if anyone is interested I have a pretty good selection of R30 parts main and tail gear, pinion, boom supports, couple tailbooms, belt in like new condition and blades to boot got a set of maverick 550mm pro g5 wide chords without a scratch on them.

No Really I am the club President!!!

Just a suggestion but I wouldn't do that. Look for a used V2 and buy that, it'll be cheaper in the long run. Converting a V1 to V2 requires replacing 1/2 the heli.

BUT for all those V1 Raptor out there I would strongly suggest upgrading to the latest tail grips, bearings and a PV0499 tail hub. Should cost about $25 and be a lot safer. The V1 tail design is just prone to blowing apart. This is because the tail blade grips are held on by a brittle black metal grub screw. Touch the tail on the ground and it's weakened a lot - I've had those tail blades whizz by me, no fun.

V1 to V2 conversion resources.

Great Picnic Flyer !
I just love my little 30 R Stinky : It's usually the first to come out of the hauler, the last to be put away.

Great for calming thing's down prior to the .52 or one of the gassers. Great is the mileage, remarkably fast in forward flight, feel's light in the corners and float's around like a Senorita.

Best part is it teaches you to use good collective - energy management, when messing around and learning.

I did my first loop and roll on my 30 /

Then I got excited doing loop's and had a battery fail safe at the 12 O clock around 70 feet and the motor went to idle

Got up right and sorted out just in time for a good bounce

Thats Scarry, But yes the main reason i still like my 30 size is the MPG. I did have a 50 and now that i think about it, i did use a lot more fuel. but the extra power is addicting.

so someone who has tried let me know... can you replace the V1 frames with a V2 frameset it you arent going to replace anything else?

I know something about a different clutch, but will the existing v1 clutch/engine mount fit into the v2 frame set?

It's been too long since I had my V1 but I think the pinion and starter shaft bearings are different diameter outside. I do know the engine mount is the same. If you can figure out the bearings for the pinion and starter shaft the rest will work in the V2 frame from that perspective. The mainshaft and gears are the same. I think the fuel tank is different you may need to replace the fuel tank. The servo tray mounting is the same. As long as you can get the starter shaft bearings sorted out the rest should work.

The frames are not the same. On the V2 they extended the cooling shroud for better cooling and at the same time it strengthen the front side frame.

The bearing I.D. are definitely different as they made the starter shaft thicker on the V2. I *think* the bearing O.D. may be different, not sure.
