So, what's the most strightforward way to go 2S lipo on Futaba FASST?

The newer receivers can handle the power, so should it be 2s to the rx, make sure all servos can handle 7.4v, and step down regulator on the tail servo?

Is it that simple?

I want to avoid the messy wiring associated with products like the ReactorX or Fromeco Kiwi.

Looking for answers, suggestions, comments.

Thanks!

Chris

Hi

I have search alot on RR and HF ablout this.
And I can see servel person run the FASST on 2S directly.

Right now im running my 6014 on 5V (Through a Fromeco KIWI)
I might try 2S directly into the FASST 6008 with some BLS451 (or 8717) servos for the Cyclic and maybe throttle.

I thing im not know yet, is how to switch on/off.
I like the "switch On Fail" system the KIWI, reactor and others regulators have.
I might just run it with out any "switch" and just use a DIN Connector (With lock) on the plus wire as a "Switch"

Chris,

The RX "may" be able to take it, but I'm damn sure that the Futaba servos won't.

I run a regulator between my 2S 5000 mah Lipo to my Futaba RX. Voltage is set to 5.4 volts output (which is the voltage of a fully charged 4 cell nicad pack).

Don't ruin a model due to stressing the servos through over voltage that they can't handle.

chris, yup it's that easy.

i'm using just a plain old heavy duty futaba rx switch to turn it all on and off.

Although if you're going to buy a rx battery to do all of this, you may as well go with a LiFE batt of some sort, unless you just absolutely have to have 7 1/2 volts to your servos.

I got a fever! The only prescription is MORE 6HV

Wel, well...long time, no see

PM me and maybe I'll share with you my effort to convert the Sylphide90 to electric...

I have done some searching and see that I can either:

a. Run the BLS451 servos at 2S
b. Run the 8717's at 2S
c. Use a tiny switching ESC (like the castle) to regulate voltage and eliminate the wiring mess.

For one HOT setup, I think I will try either a or b. Just not sure which yet.
And if I can get my hands on a .03 sec MKS 7.4v tail servo....look out...

Chris,

If you put 2S through Futaba BLS451 servos, Futaba cannot be held accountable for any accidents that will occur.

I do believe that it is stated that they are rated for 6 volts and that's it.

I got into another p*ssing match with a Hirobo flyer who was running 2S through his system and wondering why he had glitching. No matter what he just won't revert to specified voltage.

And if you are going to commit potential suicide by running 2S on the Futaba servos, could you change your will so that I get to have the Sylphides and the IMZ engines?

Just a minute, . . . you're converting your Sylphides to electric . . nooooo

the small 10 amp castle switching BEC won't handle high powered servos on ccpm.

I got a fever! The only prescription is MORE 6HV
