Hi

Can any one help I have had the Gasser for a while now all is going well apart from when flying tight circuits from right to left then turn to the right get a whirring noise from tail and a slight movement from side to side until heli is straight then all is ok does this turning a tight left but not as half as bad.large circuits are ok

I have a futaba 401 gyro and SAB 105mm tail blades, gyro holds brilliant and no tail drifting when hovering.

I thought maybe changing the pitch slightly on the tail blades !!

Any ideas what it could be ??

thanks

Steve

Hi Steve
I think your asking too much from a 401 to control a 90 size gasser.

I only like to fly gassed up

sounds like there may be some mechanically loose there. I've seen a Predator where the tail output shaft can move back and forth I'd look for some type of slop somewhere.

I have successfully used the GY401/9254 combo in a number of 90 nitros and these larger gas helis, including my Predators...no problems.

I think that maybe your servo arm is not located properly on your servo. First put the gyro into yaw rate mode and insure the arm is now installed at 90 degress to te servo.

Then trim it first in the Yaw rate mode, in the hover, without using the trim in the transmitter, but by trimming it first mechanically by adjusting the length of the control rod.

Then pop it into HH. It will now stay on the same heading in the hover as you switch back and forth between the two.

Now go updtairs and see how it flies.

I am going to take a WAG at this as gear mesh. Under load the miter gears will be noisy but when the load is greatly reduced they quiet down. The gears need to be spaced properly with shims so the thrust loads do not move them out of mesh.

The 401 has nothing to do with the whirring noise.

What could be more fun?
