Taking a cue from blastrk I decided to start this topic. Sometimes this is the only tool you have in trying to resolve an issue with another rr member that you did business with. Also getting input from other members to help "bring light" to why a matter should or shouldn't be resolved.
After reading the feedback that other members left, I thought w5ttx was "one of the good guys" to deal with. Unfortunately this is not my experience with him. Kevin's'(w5ttx) add listed a "3 month old T-rex 600esp with 28 flights in MINT condition. No crashes, no hard landings, no 3d, just forward flight and hovering". We agreed on a price, shipped and when I received the package, I noticed that the box had opened slightly. I took pictures of the package just in case something was wrong. I also noticed that the package was made out of a make-shift box and poorly taped. Once I removed all the pieces from the package I noticed one of the fly-bar paddles was missing. I contacted Kevin immediately. As I further inspected the heli, the torque tube was also missing, the canopy was cracked and one of the canopy mounts was broken. Again, I notified Kevin about each problem. Kevin pm'd me and said it was the postal services' problem, that he had not mishandled the box and U.S.P.S. were the one's responsible for replacing damaged items. I went to the post office the next day and spoke with a postal worker. She informed me that they were not responsible because no insurance was purchased for the package being shipped. I pm'd Kevin and told him about what the postal lady had said. I then asked him to make things right. I even offered to pay for half the cost of the fly-bar paddles due to the fact that they are only sold in sets of two and I was only missing one. I told Kevin that I didn't want to make a big deal about this, that around $30 wasn't worth his credibility and we should take care of this matter as good men should. Kevin failed to contact me until I pm'd that if we couldn't resolve this matter, I would leave negative feedback and start a thread about his mishandling of this matter. He finally pm'd me and asked how much money it was going to take. I pm'd him back with the part #'s, prices and cost of shipping from ReadyHeli.com. I mentioned that if he took care of the cost of all the parts and shipping, I wouldn't worry about the cracked canopy. Haven't heard from him and I know he's been on this site since. This guy does not stand by what he sells and I would not do business with him again! Am I in the wrong for expecting Kevin (w5ttx) to honor the broken and missing parts?

You are not wrong, he misled you with; false advertising, poor packaging and poor service after the sale. Not cool at all.

Wow what kind of packing is that!! Was everything wrapped up inside the box with bubble wrap etc? You are dealing with this matter like a professional, so hopefully Kevin just had a bad day and will now make everything right.

Why would you spend the amount of money it takes to buy a heli used or new and not insure it ? Poor business with both parties .

You're right, poor business on my part krashtagain! I assumed too much I guess because when I ship something of this value, insurance is automatic. I always at least offer it on the other packages I ship out.

The fact that he posted this in his ad:
BNIB Align extra 600ESP canopy
Makes me think he owes you a new canopy also. He promised you a BNIB canopy, that isn't brand new so its more then 30 bucks worth of stuff that he ripped you off for!
The guy sounds like another scam artist. Thanks for sharing your experiance with us! Sorry for your loss!

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

Raw deal sellers fault
First off I feel the seller is responsible for the item until it gets to you. So if he doesn't want to foot the bill for a totally destroyed item he needs to insure it for value with the shipper. . Since he didn't then it's his responsibility to make it totally 100% right. Next time he will insure it.
Come on step up w5ttx you should have insured it, you didn't now you have to pay for damages instead of the insurance covering it.

Fly it ! Crash it ! Rebuild it ! Repeat as needed !! Everett

shipping
Color you are not wrong!! you did noe recieve what was advertised! Granted the shipper probably didn't maliciously torment the bird...
** BUT What baffles me is why in the hell would ANYONE ship these "toys" uninsured!!!!!! I always insure them for way more than it's worth and pray...i mean pray that they lose it and me and they other (buyer) guy split the money and buy something we both want <<< and i'm not even joking !! but it's pennies on the dollar. And in situations like this would help both of ya'll. Looking at your pics the guy boxed it up himself AND failed to get insurance...then it ALL rests on HIS shoulders until YOU accept it ! He gambled with shipping and lost... You (color) should not incure any expenses from this . But it also depends on what kind of man you are!! had that been my bird (well it would have been insured) but play along... and you brought this to my att. You would have had a set of paddles drop shipped to you to keep me from buying a 60.00 canopy.....but thats me

and i just do what the voices in my wifes head tell me to do !!

I don't care if it's a $20 AirHog, it deserves a better box and more tape at least...the pix speak for themselves.

Also I might add, I know "colorBlaster" personally. He is one of the most honest, fair, and reasonable guys I know, and just expects to be treated the same. If he told me something, I know I could take it to the bank.

The fact that the "seller" just dropped out, and didn't even make a counter offer speaks volumes to me. I also know colorblaster struggled with weither to put this guy on "front street" or not.

Bottom line...the guy had to know he did a crappy job of packing and needs to own up, and make it right.

Things like this make us all a little more nervous each time we buy/sell/trade.

Paypal is useless in situations like this. They will only help if nothing is shipped. He could have been shipped a box of rocks, and paypal will still let the seller keep the money. Sad, but true.

not true! I was in a deal like this they told me to ship it back with confirmation once he received it they refunded my money this falls under the "not as described"

i bet once they contact him he'll send the money for the parts instead of refunding the hole cost

yes dear the hobby shop again

Well it's about time paypal started helping out the buyers. Their policies have changed alot over the past few months. Some are welcome changes, and some are a turn in the wrong direction. Mostly the policies dealing with ebay are garbage. I recently sold a cell phone on ebay, and they held the funds for over 2 weeks even though I had promptly shipped the item, and had proof of delivery. They pick, and choose from very random policies to hold your money as long as they can.

It does not even look like the ad, Is it even the same heli?
He should make this right...or let a four year old do the packing job next time so the box stays together. And who ships something with no insurance a letter yes but not a helicopter....

RCNutz is right. You should file a Paypal Claim for sure. I was told by ebay in the case where I was the seller, that I am fully responsible for the box to show up and that insurance would be my responsibility since I am responsible for the PKG. Put in a dispute and it will lock his funds. You then ship the heli back Del confirmation and you should get your money back.

To the other individual that mentioned taking out more insurance than it is worth is only waisting your hard earned money. They will not even cover shipping expenses (because it got there). They only cover for the exact amount paid, not what you took it out for. I've delt with it a few times.

Not sure of what kind of deal you got, but the heli does not look all that bad? I had one come to me where the box looked like that. Paddle probably fell out. My guess is it was damaged by a machine or something. The post office would not accept and ship a pkg looking that way. Now if it received damage from shipping, they would still attempt to deliver as they did.

I used to have about 20 of those paddles and 5 torque tubes. Would have gladly sent you one.

Just put in the dispute and request the 30.00 as partial refund...

shipped
copter just so you and everyone one else for that matter know I insure for replacment value (not it's worth).

for example:

the t-rex 600n super pro that i just sold...had i shipped it instead of meeting the guy. It would have been insured for 2500 dollars and that breaks down to this

t rex 600n super pro 1,000
radix mains 130.00
611 gyro 400.00
4 9452 servos approx 400.00
carbon torque tube 30.00
custom canopy 100,00
radix tails 30.00
misc new parts 200.00

While these parts are hardly (worth) this anymore because they are used BUT you have to remember what it will cost to replace the goods.

On average my office ships approx. 35 packages a day and recieves the same or more. U.P.S. will pay replacement cost

NOW if they break something they are not going to replace the whole deal... IF they lose it as i mentioned!! they will pay the FULL replacement cost as long as you can back it up.

blastrk -For the claims I made with USPS, I had to produce a receipt. So if I sold someone a Heli for $600.00 but it was worth $2000.00, but made insurance for more because it was worth more and I just gave the person a good deal, they would only pay the $600.00 which is what I have the receipt for. That at least is my experience with USPS. Sounds like UPS is different or things change.

Now I guess though giving this some more thought, I wonder though if I had a receipt for the new helicopter price of $2000.00 but sold it for $600.00, If I were to produce the $2000.00 receipt in a lost claim, I would probably be paid the $2000.00, but that would be dishonest on my part since I only really am responsible to pay the individual $600.00 and would pocket $1400.00 and that would be cheating.

I think that sounds right! lol
