HI,

Like the title says, I have lot's of 6S 5000mAh 30 &40C batteries from my TDR and I want a smaller heli.
Should I get the 500 or 500se ?
Any recommendations about motors ? I'm a kontronik fan, so the esc will be jive, the new pyro 600 should be great but not sure when it will be available.

Thanks,
Roei

I say the 5003D. That airframe and 550mm blades is the perfect combo for that pack. Strong 1100 KV motor and good electronics will set it off .......Ron

I'd go for 500SE if vbared, else 500, thats my 2cents ;-) 500SE with high-C batts and vbar is very close to 8s or even 10s setups. And I say that despite flying a 600
How come you piled up 5000mAh for a TDR though ? :O

I'm looking for fbl only.
The TDR fly amazing even with 5000 batteries, hard 3d of FFF, both styles can be performed great.

Yes 500 if FBL, or wait for the 700 and go 12S

That probably will be any way altought I have the TDR, but anyway...
Just curious if I should get the 500 or 500se.
I think the 500SE will be a little harder on the batteries ? I'm flying mostly aggressive 3D.

OK, help me out here. I only know the 5003d fbl. I have the scorpion 4025-1100kv motor with a jive and use the TP 45c batts. Best I can tell, the motor is maxed out with 550 blades on it. (Awesome for sure, but maxed out) I can't imagine it spinning 600mm blades on a 6s setup, so I don't know why you'd want a longer boom and belt. That seems to be the difference.

Btw, I put the bigger diameter 600 boom on my 500---cut to size and no diag tail braces, along with the open box tail from the 600. That's a nice 500 mod and weighs in for less $ than the SE.

Depends what style flying you want the heli for. For sports work the SE on 600 blades (Edge FBL) is very economical on 6S 5000 packs. I get 6 to 7 minutes out of it. Same on mild 3D to about 4-5 minutes.

Hard 3D you need to go 8S or down to 500-550 blades.

I have a TDR as well and 2 l600 vbars on 6s,one scorpion other tango, my advice is the 500 Se as it's similar to the 600 except for the slightly shorter boom but your lipo's fit better "(deeper) in the frame, With the scorpion 4025 -1100 you'll get 4 1/2 mins of hard 3d on 35c hyperion, if you go for the tango you'll get more flight times and a little less power although power is still good enough for everything you throw at it. I fly 2200+ headspeed jive 100's and 600 blades.
There is really no better combo than the TDR and the 6s logo's on 600 blades, in fact i'm slowly selling off everything else to eventually end up with only the 600's and 2 TDR's. The high c rating lipo's really made the lighter 6s setups come to life. Go for it!

Common sense may not be common after all

Why not buy the 600 kit and cut the boom down. It is cheaper and the 600 blade grips help keep the heli tracking better.

Giant 600 canopy on a 500 and the kit is ~$150 more. If you go the "cheaper" route the conversion is only ~$40.......Ron

Why not just get a Logo 500 V-Bar with 550-560mm blades?

Sounds ideal for them packs to me.

The conversion to a 25mm boom and tail is way more than $40. The 600 canopy is much easier to see and you only need to move front strut to use 500 canopy and again the 600 grips are much sturdier.
