I just thought I'd post my experience with the Align 3G FBL system and my 700N.

Pertinent info about my setup: JR 8717's 6v, 9256, and Align blades, +/- 13 collective, 12 cyclic. Wind about 10kt.

To sum it all up, this unit flies great! It took me 2 tries on the gains to get them dialed in. I'm about 11 o'clock on each one. I'm not getting any bounce or wobble in hard stops, tic-tocks, or anything else. I was doing 4 point elevator flips letting go of the stick violently to see if I could get it to bounce and it did not. It doesn't seem to have any bad tendencies, it is solid. I have 3 flights on it so far.

The tail holds real well, even through fast backward inverted hurricanes then transitioning to an inverted funnel. I have not tried piro hurricanes yet. The piro consistency could be a little better BUT I was also hearing my gears "skip" when I really started horsing on the tail. Come to find out, the gears were worn and rounded on one side from a crash in the fall that I didn't notice before. So the gears may have been the culprit there, so I don't feel this isn't a fair assessment on piro consistency. Will try again next weekend possibly.

The set-up was super simple, no confusing/time consuming programming needed. I set it up on the bench per the manual. Flew it. Dialed the gains and it was rockin!

I just thought I'd add this thread because I'm sick of seeing all the posts on here about how Align is crap when those people have never even tried the system. I'm not necessarily an Align 'fanboy', I fly what works. I decided to take a chance on this system because it was affordable. Glad I did!

Would you mind posting up your spacing on the servo wheel on your tail servo? Some guys were saying 10MM wasn't enough.

The tail servo ball is at 14mm. The manual says 10mm, even for the 700 (I think they only intend that for the 600) and that is not enough.

So, 14mm on the tail is good. That works out to give you about 100 on each end point.

I've gotta agree. Flew my 600N with the 3G for the first time today. Very nice indeed. Just watch out for battery voltage. I can only get 2 flights where I used to get 5 flybarred filghts before. CHECK YOUR VOLTAGE OFTEN!

700 with flybarless
I just installed the Align system on my 700 today and just as you did I did a bench setup and was flying it afterwards. Its quite easy to setup.

I will do more tuning on Sunday and test out the 780 tail gryo which was my biggest concern. So far it really flys great.

+1 on the battery voltage. I lucked-out twice. My batteries died on landing.....

You can count on getting half of the number of flights you used to get, with a flybar.

Pay really close attention to the battery, until you get used to the power drain of the system

But, it does fly great.

Hell... I can fix that.

Thank Wings for posting that up. I'm in process of setting up my 700. Great writeup on your review.

There's talk on the other forum about only one set of leads powering the 3G unit which then power the four servos. They've also posted up a work around by setting up an "external" power bus to work around this.

I did notice that I won't get as many flights out of it. I am using a 2 year old Fromeco Relion 5200. It was only about 20 degrees today and after 3 flights it was sitting around 7.3v under 1A load.

I watched my buddy set up the 3g on a 700 today very impressed with the ease of setup and flight performance almost flys as good as my vbar . I will try one on the 450 for sure and would recommend it to anyone.

Graet repot Wings,I should be reciveing my 3G hopefully this week, everytime something new comes out somebody will always trash it for some reason,me on the other hand I'll check it out for my self the hand's on approche and I really have faith in this 3G system becuse of ease of set up similar to a Align 750 or 780 gyro,
and if it work's graet I'll send for anotherone but just the gyro alone for me Srimok 90 cyberhead.
saw a post in HF some guy in taiwaN had the 3G on his Srimok and was craezy stable to stable so he said.

Added a couple other things to the report that you might want to know...

Wind was about 10kt and I am running +/- 14 collective and 12 cyclic.

I'm getting alot more comfortable wit my setups, now. And I've started playing around with the settings.

Today, I had my gains down to 25%. They still felt very stable with the low gains. I may keep them there for a while...

Hell... I can fix that.

Can a few of you post your gains for a 600N setup? Trying to get a baseline for troubleshooting.

Did some spanking on the new 700 3G system today. Wow its just super and damn fast!!!

I had to turn down the gain just a bit on the Elev to keep the tail from bouncing when I quickly stop a move.

I noticed that the battery is use much quicker so as you guys said I need to watch that.

The only downside I noticed today is that the head compensation can lead to a roll over during spool up if you are not careful and give cyclic inputs. After a large input the compensation hangs slightly off center so the heli wants to tip as the PID slowly moves back to center. When you are spooling up just keep the cyclic straight or be ready to be fast on the correction.
