There is a YS 70 coming out this summer some time but I had a NIB 63. They will probably be identical except for bore.

The hard part is yet to come. New engine mount, bottom plate, stiffeners, maybe moving the front landing gear.

Two OS FS90 90 degree exhaust couplers will get the exhaust up where it should be.

are you gonna make a special fan duct ? i did dabble once with a 4stroke in a rappy 60 , used 2 electric fans to cool the engine , in theory you could remove the fan altogether if you went that route , good luck

Fan shroud fits pretty good. Valve cover sticks out. Looks like new engine mounts and new bottom plate will do it. Slot the sideframes to move the pinion closer ~0.046".

I love my YS 63's on my profile planks but I don't think it can compare well to a Hyper 50. It'd have an interesting sound to be sure. I look forward to flight vids!

A YS63 will eat an old OS 46. The trick is that it produces a lot of power at 15000 rpm which is way out of prop range.

Oh, about 62g.

7.45 to 1 gear ratio. Pinion is actually about 0.060" closer.

Needs new motor mounts now.

The 4-stroke conversion part is done. Now it's just like any other heli to finish. I have all winter to finish it.

KDE Direct 700N gear adapter with 700N gear
G-Force SHO fan
Infinity Hobby 22 tooth pinion

Plus some hacking and new engine mounts.

Hi Four Stroker

The carb looks close to the ground.... will probably act like a vacuum cleaner and suck up a lot of dirt.

You may need a filter.

Regards
Paul

PS: I had a YS63s on a plank. It is extremely powerful. I would say MUCH more torque than an OS50. Going to be fun. I ran a 14 x 4w prop at about 12000rpm, don't think an OS50 would do that.

Look in my gallery. I always use an air filter for the exact same reason you describe ! I fly off of grass also.

The YS 63 has a lot of horsepower at much higher rpm's. The instructions don't say 15000 practical top end for nothing. Guys out west pylon race at 18000 with stiffer springs.

This is an odd one for me. I had always heard that a four stroke just didn't turn up enough to do 3D. It looks cool though.

I just looked at the manual and it does say "Practical rpm 2,000-15,000rpm".

However it also says "Select a good quality propeller that will turn in the 9,000 to 11,000 rpm range."

I'd be skeptical on how long that motor will run above 12k rpms. I'm not saying it won't... I've just never heard of anyone running them over 11.5k.

Cool that somebody has got a fourstroke into a heli that actually works. I think its more for the fun of doing it factor than anything else. It would be for me and i have toyed with the idea for a long time and just might give it a go now.

If it doesnt move and its meant too... use WD 40. If it moves and its not meant too...use duct tape!
