Guy's

Can anyone explain to me why we see 700 600 500 size Vbar systems and more importantly heads for flybarless and yet 450 size options are still so thin on the ground?

Is it only me who owns a Trex 450 or similar sized?

And yes I know of all the options that are "imminent" but all I see are more and more variations (latest is align plug & play from mikado) great I thought at last..

And it's still the same old bunch 700 600 500

Please can anyone who has an inside ear get these manufacturers to get their shiny ar$es in motion.

And please don't all reply telling me to use brand XX or whatever I KNOW what's currently available and what's "in the pipeline" just want something I can buy over the counter at my LHS

Just can't believe no ones told the marketing boy's what they are missing.

Guess the same goes for 250's tho' as I don't own one I won't comment

I had a FLB Rave and loved it!
I think price is the problem most people that fly 450s dont want to spend that much on it to make it flybarless

I'm not sure why my 450 pro was as stable as my 500 without the 3g and I'm sure it's more stable now but I can afford alot more 450 batteries

There are lots of 450 FBL options available. What's harder to find is flybarless parts for the 250.

I've been flying a mini-v 450pro for several months. I've tried the Gaui and Microheli heads on it so far. Don't really care for either one. Don't get me wrong. It flies great. But I've had several fbl helis and I know it could be better. I'll either switch up to the Mikado or Align head eventually.

I think the fbl 450 market offers a smaller profit margin. And that's why there is less emphasis there.

I have the Mini-V on mine and just recently the Mikado 450 head and mine flies very good now. I have tried the DIY 450 mod, the MH head, the RJX head now the Mikado head which is for working out well indeed.

Here the gig, the rjx head was ok no issues really. I like the dampening of the MIk head as it is simple with one oring on each side that's it. The feel for me seems crisper on the Mik head, versus the RJX thus far, me and friend tried them both back to back tonight at a gym and it just feels better in piro flips etc, and these were both on same and independant file testing tonight. I will get more testing done as indoor becomes available but I like the feel so far of the Mik head the best. The RJX is still good no worries there but it sucks to have to spend 85 on that head to get all the 450 pro parts if you are not taking your flybared head apart. Many and even me thought the Mik head was a Gaui head, NOT at all, it has a spindle and damepening 100%.

Thanks for the replies guy's, just to repeat I know all the options that are (in theory) available but most are "due soon" at my LHS.

My point was surely there must be loads more 450's around than mine yet the manufacturers seem to be treating them as an afterthought.

Interesting what Shawn say's about the Mik head, must admit I'm just in the process of sending off for a MiniV + Mik head for one of my 450's

Will put a 3G on the other when they become available, the point is I can fly my 450's out the back field whereas anything bigger involves a drive to the flying field (no possibilty of kid's or dog's)

Anyway one thing I did pick up on in the millions of "bashing/lovong align FBL" posts was a hint that the 3G system worked less well on the little 450 than it did on the larger models.

Anyone got any experience?

And PLEASE let's keep it above the "bashing" we see elsewhere I have no agenda here apart from finding the truth.

PS I bought a Rave a few months ago but want FBL on my "beaters"

Many thanks

Paul

I'm not sure where u saw people bashing the 3g on a 450 I think most people r having some troubles on the 700n probably cause it's most used... There's only a handful of people with the 3g on a 450 here( I'm one of them) and everybody loves it... There r some videos of a guy flying one on YouTube.

Where on earth did I say bashing?

There are a lot of threads here discussing the new 3G and we have the usual crew who know somebodies aunt who's friend once flew Align 5years ago and on that basis decided to make a "Align's great" or "Align sucks" post.

I said there was a "hint" that the 3G on smaller heli's (I can't remember if it was 450 or 250) hadn't worked as well as on the larger sizes.

Was just wondering if they were further refining setup options before releasing it on the great unwashed.

But yes as you say only a handful had the 3G / 450 combo so far so your input on that is just what I wanted..

Glad it's working

Well sorry I just assumed bashing because there's so many people bashing it when they don't even know what the problems r.... If u take time to setup ur heli right I'm sure any system will work well

I gotta bash on the op for bashing on bashers. I've probably set up twenty helis including the fourteen that I've owned and flown. This includes four flybarless helis. I know a little bit about what works and what doesn't. My expectations are not unreasonable. I also know a little about business - what pays the light bill and what drives improvement and innovation.

What doesn't drive improvement and innovation is an ambiguous nod to some new product out of some mysterious sense of obligation. If it sucks, say it sucks. If I suck, tell me I suck! But tell me why so I have the opportunity to learn from it. And maybe tell me why you think you're qualified to say so, so that I can make my own decisions as to how valid your point may be. This is market driven research in its purest form. And it's free! Product managers will eat this up if they're worth their salt.

Okay - flame on!
