I will be getting my Logo 400 in short order. Prior to deciding to get the Logo, I bought some items to upgrade my recently sold Trex 500. I got the new 500M motor as part of that decision. I have tried to get rid of all my Align stuff to make the Logo 400 "Align-Free." I just received the Edge 423mm FBL blades and 3 9650s. I have the CC ICE 75A ESC as well.

But here I am with an Align motor. My question is: should I dump the NIB 500M and get the Scorpion? It would be helpful if someone has tried both. I guess I don't have to be Align-free, but that Scorpion sure does look better!

Also, I can't figure out why the Align motor is more expensive?!?!?!?! I was always under the impression that Scorpions were a better motor. Of course, price doesn't always mean quality either. Thanks.

GO SCORPION
I have the 3026-1600 in my LOGO 400 and it seems to be more powerful then my buddies trex 500 with the stock 500 motor besides you cant do that to a LOGO haha.

See, that's the thing; the new Align motor is supposed to be be better than the old stock motor. They almost doubled the overall wattage. But you're right, I don't think I can do that to my Logo.

I've never owned a scorpion motor. Are the bearings easier to replace than the Align ones?

1000% easier. I have at least 7 Scorpion motors here. The Scorpion motor bearings seem to wear out faster (you can tell by the high pitch noise in flight) than other motors. Other than the bearings, the motor does have a lot of power though.

Sounds like I'll go with the Scorpion then. What bearings do you guys throw in there when the stock ones go sour. I know boca has good ones, but the different types are a little confusing. Ceramic, hybrid, stainless...........

set your gear mesh properly and oil your bearings on your scorpion motor every 6=10 flights. the scorpion 1600 in my trex has over 200 flights on original bearings. The one in my logo is holding up fine too.

as far as which one to use, honestly i've never been a fan of any align motor, they are generally hard to maintenance and made as cheaply as possible. you can't go wrong with the scorpions.

I wonder how they are getting away with charging more for their motors?

Got my Scorpion HK3026 1600kv, about a week ago. I have also flown back to back with my friends new 500ESP w/500M. Scorpion has more punch IMHO. I would go with the Scorpion for $70 to $75, over the $90+ 500M any day! Same setup only diff was the gyros, and tail servos, all in all Scorpion all the way!
I read about bearing issues w/scorpion, and as they state: The motor has around 250,000+ rpf during a normal flight, So I use the bearing oil every 6 flights on all my motors and hope they last

P.S. The 500M is 10 times better than my old 500L

I ended up selecting the 1400 Kv Scorpion with the 19T pinion. Thanks for the input.

misfits0311, Did you get it running yet? How do you like it, and what kind of flight times are you getting on what packs?

Check out my gallery. I'm almost ready for electronics. BTW, I'm using the 2700 mah packs from my 500 that I sold.
