Been flying the 3DMP for many years now and thought I'd give this flybarless lark a try.

Picked up the Align 3G setup for the T-Rex600 the other day while passing the model shop as it looked great value and I've got the Rex600E aswell but when I got it all home I thought I'd give it a try on the MP instead.

Simple to fit (Yan's FBL kit) and programme I had to wait till today to try it out in the air.

Worked a treat, only adjustments I had to make was to the elevator Swash mix (increased to get the 12deg pitch as suggested in the instructions).

Only problem is that I can't stop the tail from wobbling - increase the gain and it oscilates faster, reduce the gain and it does get slower but to the point where there is no gain at all before it goes away completely. I've always used the Volz servos and it worked fine on the GY401 before but I guess the new Align gyro is just too good for this servo.

Most likely I'll have to modify it by adding a boom mount and use a regular size servo if I want to keep using the Align system.

What I might do is fit the kit to the Rex-600 instead and maybe try the V-Bar on the MP instead. Anyone got this on the original servo or have you all fitted the boom mount thing?

Flight characteristics were pretty much the same as before, I didn't play at all with the gains on the control box, like I should have done, and instead just enjoyed playing. There was a noticeable drop in the mAh's used over the normal seven minutes I always have set on the timer so the lack of a flybar definately helps in the efficiency of the system. I found I was able to do all the flying I use to do even though the tail wouldn't stay put and it was a real pleasure to try something new and come away without having to order spares and have to repair something!

Just though I'd share as I haven't posted on here for a few years now

I am going the route of a full size servo conversion (what Jan recommends) and a VBAR on my MP-E. I will post findings when I am finished
