I was thinking of converting to flybarless and was looking at the Align kits. I was a bit concerned because of my bad experience with the Align 750 gyro and it ability to piro consistently but I see the kit has a 780 model. Does anyone have any experience with the 780?

I'm a big fan of the Spartan 760 gyro which all my birds have. If I use the Align kit I want to make sure I have the same performance I have with the Spartan.

If anyone has used the kit or just has the 780 please give me your feedback.

Thanks

Dan

Just by another Spartan and sell the 780.

I just bought a 700le and in my kit it came with the 750 so I dont know if it's available in any of the kits yet.

Leave your Spartan gyro on there do not use the 3G tail gyro , thats what I did because I had the tail where I wanted it with the Spartan.

If you are going to do that then you should just buy a 2 axis system. The benefit is the three gyros "talk" to each other to maximize the whole response of the heli. With a seperate tail gyro, the system has no idea what the tail is doing so it cannot compensate for the cyclics to help the tail or vice versa...........Ron

If you love the spartan you will not be happy with the Align FBL gyro. It does whip.

Mikado has been doing FBL for so long, you just can't go wrong with their system.

Tested the 3G today
I just couldn't stop the itch so I picked up a 3G for my 700. I got to test it today and spanked it really hard.

The 780 gryo seems just like a GY611 gryo. It holds the tail really good and didn't have any of the 750 problems that I had before. 750 = GY401

I must say that this conversion just rocks. The flip rates are at least double and it feels like it has more power everywhere. You can just slam into very tight funnels and have no headspeed loss at all.

I saw some comments on not using the internal tail gryo and I agree that this an option since the align system treats the tail as a totally separate unit already. The setup and wiring are totally separate so putting on my fav spartan may happen in the future.

Thanks for all our input guys!!!

The 3G is being billed as 3 axis system. No matter how the setup goes, if it is a 3 axis system, you are losing a lot by dumping the tail. If you want a better tail, buy a better system 3G $380 + Spartan $200 = $580. VBAR $475 + conversion $100 = $575 plus you get one of the best tail gyros on the market today all in one package.............Ron

Agree Ron, buying the Align system then ditching he tail gyro is a good way to waste money. This is why I was happy that the 780 seems at least as good as a GY611. Once I'm good enough to notice the difference I'm sure there will be some type of software upgrade or newer version from align.

I wonder how much the software in the system uses all three gyros for compensation etc. I not sure if there is any way to know for certain.

There sure is Level out into FF, tip the nose downward and pirouette. If the heli stays at the same level without correction, the three gyro are "talking" otherwise known as pirouette compensation (A VBAR term).
