need some help with an ASP 46 nitro it starts no problem ,ticks over at a good speed no problem, but as soon as i try to increase
throttle for takeoff it just cuts out instantly. would appreciate some ideas.

Sounds like rich mixture or glow plug but less likely because when u take of the glow ignitor it stays running. More info is good also like what fuel r u using?

First thing to do is to change the plug just to eliminate it as a cause.

the fuel is just standard 15% nitro ,the engine was running alright ,but has not been started for a couple of months.

+1 on the plug. Every time I've ever seen this happen that's what it was.

If it can't hover, it ain't worth flying.

Check your fuel line and make sure you have a good fuel flow.

Possible issues:

air leak (replace fuel lines)
clogged fuel filter (back flush)
bad clunk (if you are using fuel magnet)
clogged carb (flush)

What do you expect for $50?

Really, the low cost Chinese nitro motors are not made very well.
They may work great, of not at all because of spotty quality control.
Try the above fixes, and if you are still having trouble, it might be that the carb is junk or some other major problem.
Especially in a helicopter, you need reliability. Don't skimp on the motor.

kinda covered in the "check your lines"....but, specifically check the pipe pressure line. they like to split right at the nipple. also, grab your heli and give it a shake and see if you hear a rattle. a baffle may have come loose in the pipe.

if it ain't broke, break it.

I agree I'd check and replace all the fuel lines, especially inside the fuel tank. Also replace the glow plug, I agree cutout could be that also.
