Well.........

the indoor event went well. The new location is MUCH bigger and better than the previously used Golf Dome. We had 24 pilots sign up and there were 30 steak dinners bought for tomorrow. So attendance is approx. half of normal. We already have a race on for best crash !

So, NO.........SHAG is not cancelled. There will likely be more hanger flying that real unless the weather smartens up real quick, but it's great to see many of the faces from last year again.

Hey Kevin, I just want to say thanks for putting together a great event, I had a great time! What a great bunch of people, I felt comfortable the moment I got to the field, and there was no shortage of learning and fun. I know I'll be getting a LOT more flying in this summer now after learning that a little breeze doesn't have to stop you from playing . That alone was worth the trip. Hope to fly with any of the guys anytime again soon, that was the most fun I've had in YEARS!
Sean

P.S. To all the people who jammed out, thanks for the extra prizes, and know better next year! The weather was crap, but that was half the fun!

Closing out SHAG 2010.........
Well, another year goes into the history books. This year the weather definitely bit us again. The indoor event Friday night of course was unaffected. It went very well. With 5 flight stations people still had lots of room to fly.

Sat. was very windy, rainy, and cold......although that didn't stop a few from flying Sat afternoon. Saturday for the most part was a great time to talk with everyone that still came down for the event. Monty had a laptop with phoenix for people to try and there was lots of shop talk, sharing of info, and great stories flowing.

Sunday the weather started to smarten up and pretty much everyone that was left got at least a few flights in before lunch. Immediately after eating, I gave out the pilot draws. I also presented was the furthest travelled to Shawn and Shelly from BC, and best crash went to Brandon from Regina. Within an hour or so of awarding the crash award, there were a number of trex600 crashes in a row. All would have been worthy of the title! Last, Bill presented the hillbilly heli award to another worthy recipient......Aarin. By about 3pm Sunday, the sun was out and the wind was gone........what's up with that ??? Brandon F. put on some amazing flight demos that had everyone at the edge of their seats. It was some of the most agressive and impressive 3D flying I've witnessed at SHAG since it's inception. Nice flying man!

Regardless of the poor weather, everyone I talked to thanked me for running the event and said they would be back. Thanks for the support ! Next year we will have the event June 3rd-5th for some warmer weather.

I will get the pictures I took into the SHAG gallery by this coming weekend and post an update in the forums once I do.

Again, a big thankyou to everyone that made the trek to Saskatoon for the event even with the grim weather forecasts looming. Your continued support of this event is very much appreciated !!! Have a great flying season !
