Plans are under way for the sixth annual Saskatoon Heli Annual Gathering. This event will be held on the first weekend in May (May 1st & 2nd) at the HCRCC field. The kickoff indoor fun fly will be held at the Sasktel Sports Centre. It is much larger than our previous indoor venue with better lighting. The indoor will take place Friday evening, April 30th from 7p-8:45p.

Our goal is to get as much of the heli community out of hibernation, and ready for the summer. This is a non-competitive event geared towards promoting our hobby, friendship, and fun. This is a great event for newcomers to the R/C Helicopter Hobby, to learn, get assistance, or just see a wide variety of equipment and talent. Talent is by no means a requirement. We encourage those just starting, or those that have been out of flying for a while, to pack up your helis and head to SHAG 2010. There will be experienced pilots onsite to help you with setup, tips on hovering, forward flight, and more. Whether you fly nitro birds, or electrics, there will be something for you at SHAG.

For further details, please see the SHAG 2010 website at: http://shag.hobby-site.com .

Awesome absolutely pumped, this is to me the Best funfly in Canada period for helis and anyone that flys helis and enjoys great people and a great time really owes it to themselves to make the journey. Me and my friends travel 12 hours for this and it is worth the drive!!!

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

The field is completely clear of snow except for one mound about a foot deep where the snow blower piled it earlier in the year. The main runway that we use for SHAG is completely clear. There is also a little snow left along the north side of the tree line.

The 2week forecast shows 20 C for the April 17-18 weekend and our highs for this coming week are in the mid-teens so I think we'll be fine. There is less snow now than there was at this time last year.

The last week has also really helped dry the field. The road is dry now except for the bit through the trees, and the camping area is coming along nicely too. I was in Edmonton 2 weeks ago, and Calgary last week..... and Saskatoon was warmer both times !

No worries man !

Only 10 days to go !!!

For those of you that think you are likely coming, if you haven't signed up already, please do so. Did I mention it's been hot ( > 20C ) here for the last 4 days ? AND........ the long range forecast shows the SHAG weekend in the 18C to 20C range ! Excellent !

Note: unlike previous years we are not asking for pre-payment......just pre-registration to make it easier on our people at the signup table. Easier for you too as you won't need to fill out the event registration form! So come on.....just do it
Click here: [ http://70.64.79.224/events/SHAG/signup.php ] I know ya wanna !

See you real soon !
