Im thinking about getting a Protos 500, but I would like to stay with my 4s set ups I have currently. Meaning batteries. I have 30c 3300mah batteries I use on my Lepton. From the looks of it, the gearing is really close, but please, correct me if Im wrong.

What motor does this machine require for the 4s to fly between 2600-2900 rpms? 10 turn Hyperion 800's KV?

Is there biggest pinion 20 teeth? Will the lepton Pinions work at all?

You can get a pinion for the stock motor that will work with four cell batteries. They make an eighteem tooth for sure and most people are running thirteen or fourteen tooth on six cells. The current draw will be pretty high with four, so get a large ESC. Like a hundred amp to go with your 99 amp batteries.
Have fun!

The Heli is designed for 4s - 6s from what I understand, so it should not be a problem even with stock motor (I think). I used to run mine on 5s and it was awesome.

Use this calculator:

http://www.readyheli.com/Online_Hea...ulator_s/81.htm

They have 20T pinions for protos, they have 18, 19 and 20 (and smaller ones)

I think that the 20 tooth should give 3000+ headspeed and at around 1500 watts (2HP!) it should rock!

Actually, the 20 tooth pinion with the stock motor(wich is 800kv) on 4S will give around 2200-2300RPM on the head with 100% throttle curve, depending on the quality of the battery your using.

The 3026 1000kv 17-20 tooth or the 3026 1210kv 15-17tooth

These scorpion motors have awesome power!

These are the motors I would recommend for your needs. (2600-2900RPM)

Like said earlier, you will need a 100amp ESC to keep things safe, or a quality 80amp ESC with high burst rate over 100amp will do fine also.

Can anyone tell me what the "gear" ratio is for the Protos? Or what number of teeth the main has?

Thanks!

93 Tooth main gear.

With the 15 tooth pinion is a ratio of 6.2 to 1

Cheers,

Thank you both! I'm running the 13 tooth and 6 cells and haven't tached it yet. Got new batteries on the way anyway so it will change with them.

look up a member named Jafa. Very knowledgeable and experienced pilot. He has a Lepton and actually ran his Protos on 4S. He was using Scorpion 1400kv motor with it. If you use the stock motor with 18T it really screws up the gearing ratio. You need higher kv motor. But ask Jafa, he has first hand experience
