I heard that the G5 and 550 may be discontinued. Does anyone know for sure?

I think the fusion is going to make the 550 obsolete, but I would expect continued support from Outrage.

fwiw..

I certainly hope not, as the 550 is a great design...I know from (expensive) experience that a 600 electric is really tough on batts, especially on 6S...The 550 is, imho, perfect for a 12S setup using 2600 6S x2...This lets you fly a 500 on 6S and the 550 on 12S, with much less strain on the batts...

I wasn't speaking with any factual information at all. I would expect the Fusion would do all that you mention (run on 12s), so why wouldn't you prefer that, assuming you didn't already have a 550.

I'm basing my opinion on prior experience with 600 size electrics...Power to weight and power loading is important on e-helis, and the 550 will tax the power system less, as well as feeling "quicker" than a larger heli...Flight times also go up as the weight of the heli drops relative to the power available..Example is my Protos, which flys much lighter than the Rex 500, and will give 5 min of hard 3D on 6S 2350 mah packs....Part of my excitement is the commonality of packs...1 6S 2600 in the Protos, two in the 550...

There is no way the 550 is going anywhere.
