I forgot that I had a FG canopy for my 425 backordered from Allerc. It showed up in the mail yesterday.

So I figure I'll give up on the 550 canopy for now and use the 425 canopy. I take it out of the box, hook it over the bottom pin, try to fit the rubber grommets over the pins on top, and...

CRUNCH!

What the heck is going on here? This canopy doesn't fit over the frame on the bottom!

The only way it would fit is if the bottom pin were facing down. I've checked the instructions and it CLEARLY shows the pin facing UP. Plus the pin bracket clearly keys into the front landing gear bracket on the bottom with the pin facing UP. The bracket does not fit properly any other way.

I am getting a little frustrated here. Either I'm doing something wrong or there's a major engineering problem with the Gauis. The instructions are in Chinese so all I have to go off are the pictures, and the pictures say I have everything right.

Well, I don't care if it's right or wrong...

I took the landing gear off and flipped the lower canopy mount over so the pin faces DOWN. Canopy fits. Problem solved.

Are you mounting posts in the correct holes. Not sure i'll have to go back and look but seems to me there are two different set of holes for the canopy posts.

Yes, they are in the correct holes.

They are in the front holes.

The pin on the bottom lined up, but the canopy would not sit down properly because it interfered with the frame.

I really wish I could find a picture of a naked 425 to see the way it's "supposed" to be...

I just looked on google.

The images show the pin facing DOWN on people's machines. So, I have it right.

The instructions show the pin facing UP.
