Ok Guys I Need Your Help!!!! I have been in rc for alot of years, but I have never run a pumped engine B-4. I have a Gohbee 90 with an os pumped engine. My question has to do with the fuel system. When you run a pumped engine is it a good idea to run a pressure tap off the exhaust?? I am wondering with a pumped system if this would be a plus or would it build up too much pressure??? I thought maybe I should try without then with the pressure tap?? My engine is a os 91 max sx. I am running a header tank with this system. I want to thank you in advance for your help.

FX,

If you do a Search, you'll find that a lot of people have problems with the pump and they don't use it. You may want to read some of those threads before deciding which way to go.

OS pumps have sucked for as long as OS has made pumped 91 motors. The newer ones have been the "best" out of all of them, but they have still been very prone to failure or at least inconsistent runs. You would think for the added price, supposed development, and more importantly the PURPOSE of the pump being to aid consistency lol, that OS could have gotten it right. Seems that they FINALLY will get it right!!! By using YS type regulator system, well actually more Cline like, but still. Simply boils down to OS didn't want to admit that YS had a better system. They kept pouring $ into pump development to get it to kinda work. Too much pride IMO.

Thanks CoronaL, What do you recomend?? can I just not use the pump on the engine and run it straight without the pump and then run a pressure tap off the exhaust?? Or what about running a perry pump in its place. Any help you guys can recomend will be greatly appreciated.

Personally,
what I would do, and have done, is just bypass the pump. run the needles at "non pumped" settings. Start about 2.5 turns on each high and mid. Likely WAY rich, but better safe than sorry. Put a piece of fuel tubing that crosses over one side of the pump to the other to "cap" it.

run muffler pressure yes to the tank.

We've done this on a few pumped motors with good results.

There are some pumped motors that work great on the factory pump. I think it's luck of the draw. Then there are some that "appear" to run fine then suffer lean runs and taco the motor due to the pump apparantely not working right.
