Thanks Doug and man, thanks for pointing out the $60.00 discount. I got my stuff and still don't see where that is at! lol. Where did you find that?

Good point on the RX. For some reason I was thinking I was getting the same as what came with radio, but this is great because that is what I need, plus bonus of it being full range.

You welcome, I got the code in an e-mail I got from Tower, When you're a member, you get emails on a monthly basis with great offers.

Hearing the great promos on 8FG on your side of the pond, I was seriously thinking of ordering one from Tower too. But I realized that the radio regulations here in Europe are different - there are small changes in max power, channel list and also there is a yet different channel set needed for France. And we need the CE mark instead of FCC sticker. So buying the TX in US was not an option for me..

But I found that the 8FG price at my LHS was also very good, much better than MSRP - and also I found that I can use the same Tx also in France, just need to change the channel set in the system menu.

But for other stuff, like servos, gyros, "governators" and the likes, Tower is a great source also for buyers from here... ( that finally might depend on local customs office - here at my place they qualify these things as "spare parts for toys" and there is no duty on it, just a small fee for filling the forms ).

And shipping fee is very low, plus it comes as fast as if Tower already had some stock ready over here..

Thanks for the tip. I found this thread and ordered an 8FG, saved 60 bucks and got a 100 dollar RX for just 10 more bucks. Awesome deal thanks again.

No comparison.

The 8FG's software utterly blows away the DX-7's
+1. Ben is right... the DX-7 is not even in the same league. I had the 7C and absolutely loved it, but now I need more channels. Like the DX-7 the 7C is not comparable either. The 8FG rocks! Trust me, you won't be disappointed. This thing feels good to hold and fits like a glove. I'm going to tell ya up front though, that the manual sucks and the software takes a bit of time getting use too but once you understand each feature and how everything is laid out.. setup is a breeze.

BACK IN
Back in the hobby and just upgraded my Super 8UHPS to the 8FG. Got the Tower deal as well. $430 to my door with two receivers. Been reading the manual while waiting for UPS to deliver...starting to get a bald spot scratching my head trying to understand this new "box" and how it will work with my GV-1 and GY-601.

@Rotordude

The programming has lots of features, so the manual might look a bit confusing on a first or second "dry" read - but in real life the programming looks much more straightforward and you will master it in no time. Instead of the older Futaba TX which had "basic" and "advanced" menus ( at least my 7C and also the 9C, 10C had it ) - now the new crop of transmitters divides the programming into "System", "Linkage" and "Model" parts. In "System" menu you set the general parameters, then you create a new model, selecting the right wing/swash type - from there you go to "Linkage" menu to set servo assignments, endpoints and some other of that servo/channel kind of stuff, finally in "Model" menu you set conditions, modes, model-specific mixes and so on. Timer setup, model selection is done right from the main screen..

Given the number of people here who really enjoy their new 8FG and other of the new type of units - I am more than sure that you would get plenty of help here, should you need it.. Hope you'll enjoy your new toy as much as I enjoy mine

...for GV-1 it is possible to set up the "governator" together with the 8FG TX in a way that allows to set the actual governed rotor RPM number straight on the TX, without the need to then tinker with GV menus, and also, if you like, to assign a rotary dial for making on the fly RPM corrections, during flight. That saved me some $90 on an external tacho ( OK, actually my SkyTach will be for sale ) and I do not ned a helper to check what RPM I am running... I have assigned the other rotary dial for Gyro gain fine adjustments, on the fly again..
