restore or use as static display?.
well, this bird has not flown for 10 yrs or so, so now i'm unsure what to do....
it's an xcell 60 with a 90 apache fusalage.....i have never painted anything scale or did any restore work...i don't want to screw this bird up....
tail fin is connected to cyclic and works , turret turns with rudder...all lighting works.. hydraulic suspension /gear works to scale....
this chopper was put together right...all high end electronics from about 10 yrs ago...
heck you can even see battery voltage gauge in the front of the heli....
i dunno...seems like alot of work for a novice, but i thought i would share this beuatiful bird with you all..

the main damage ...i do need to fix a few paint flaws as well, and i did'nt want to tear the bird down...

that thing looks beautiful. Depending if the motor turns over or not, i think it could be an awesome flyer. if the motor doesnt turn, i would build a shelf for it for everyone to see.

If it were mine I would update the electronics and fly it. It's scale, so it's not like you are going to crashing trying to learn piro flips. Maybe even putting a used Raptor airframe in it to bring it up to date. I definitely would NOT let that rot on a shelf. It was made to fly. Couldn't tell you what the value if any would be.

A new motor and fresh batteries and go flying! Do the restoration after you have every thing working, that way you only have to paint it once.

Bro,you should keep it and take your time rebuilding.Get some fiberglass gell, fix the bad spots then paint match it.If the motor is just gummed up then its good, its just old fuel that needs cleaned out. That will be one SWEET heli when finished and its all there. If I had the $$ I would take it off your hands in a min.

That's beauty, for sure.
I'd tear it down and replace all the rubber and servos at the very least.
It'd be a tough call on whether to keep the 10+ year old blades or not.
I don't think I'd fly with them. Keep them for display.

The tail drive linkage/belt would be a big concern. Also, anything made of plastic, it dry rots over the years, best to replace all the flight plastics with modern alloy or glass-filled nylon.

Anything electronic should be replaced, modern stuff is so much better, any internal NiCds are probably toast by now. If there are electrolytic capacitors in anything, they may have dried out.

Kind of sad that you have to sell it, hopefully it goes to a good home where it will be restored to flying condition and then flown, not to some fool with more money than brains that would try to fly it as-is.
