Im really considering building my first gasser - and the radikal is at the top of my list...

Being that Im completely illiterate when it comes to the gasser setup/tuning etc.
Can anyone reccomend a good place to read & research the ins & outs of the gasser engine?

Mostly im interested in finding out -
What type battery setup should I use - 1 pack or seperate packs
What is the most suitable govorner
Tuning & performance info for the G20..

Im planning on running a flybarless setup & would like to keep weight to a minimum - I have seen where it is possible to use the spektrum AR7100r with the rev-limiter which would be nice.

Hey Aussie,
I can't directly answer your questions as I don't own one but I know there has been a lot of threads/posts about the Radikal.

May I suggest you use the "SEARCH" function ? You may be able to answer most of your questions that way....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

Some of the stuff you read about the bigger gasser really doesn't apply to this machine...

For instance, you can run pretty well linear curves with this machine, where you can't with the big machine.. There is no needle fiddling.. The stock engine doesn't vibrate bad, but if the machine does, you know something is wrong and correcting the problem is much easier than the big one..

All this makes its much simpler for the novice, and a whole bunch of fun for the more experienced, even with a stock engine..

Yes, hot modified engines will also be available for the machine as well..

Id really like to get a hot engine for it, I looked over at Hanson, but i really dont know what Im looking at yet..

Im reading pretty heavy, I dont want to buy a worked engine just because i can, but because i would like to bridge the gap between the nitro's that im used to.

Well the radikal FYI thread has alot of info and alot of the people who read in this section are very helpful I'm going fbl on mine hopefully will have maiden flight this weekend weather permitting
7100 r with the spektrum sensor will work fine and it's good because you can mount it using the sensor already installed in the fan rr member Sparx posted some pics of his install and that's what I followed although I'm running a throttle jockey pro
I am using the century flybarless head as well

As far as the hanson motor you can't go wrong being balance will lessen vibrations. I don't know how much of a performance gain there is but you can also look into different gearing set ups that are now available

well i find the gv1 govener to be working very well on mine,as for the mod motor it sounds like wally has a mod motor that is kicking butt, that's the one i'm checking into.
there are guys useing the 7100r, it's in several threads.tuning is a bit different but simular to nitro, for me any ways, alot of people tune there nitro's by the smoke trail, that won't work with a gasser, you need to use climbout tests and you ears and learn what it sounds like when it's HAPPY.and use a temp gun to learn the happy spot, around 200 degree f is where my is happy.be verty carefull not to run it lean, a gasser doesn't have 23% oil so if you seize it . it will damage the piston.
it takes at least a gallon of fuel to break them in, witch is about 2.5 to 3 hours of flight time.
most people are running seperate packs, the ignition needs 4.8 v, but over on HF there's a guiy makeing and selling 1 cell lithium packs for it, very light, and now he has a double pack for it one side is 2 cell lithium and the other side is 1 cell for ignition, he says the whole pack weighs 5 ounces and cost $65.00 if i remember correctley.
stk performance is good enough to do anything a 50 nitro can do but quick direction changeing manuvers such as tic tocs will be slower.however the mod motor i hear is awesome .
It gets 12 to 15 min of fly time per tank of fuel witch is 8 ounces.i run mine about 10 min and leave some fuel so as not to catch air and have a flame out or worse a lean seizure.any other questions just ask.

Century heli rep. To much power is never enough.
