Sweet Al, good on you getting a pic! I actually like the flat black look, maybe they will go with that or have it as option, better then the typical cheap silver looking we all have now IMO. But heh either way. Can you say or confirm if this case in size width and thickness is exact to the DX6 or no???

...Hoping its abit more narrow and thinner then the 6!

Thx for that info!

Just curious, but what ever happened to the DX10 we saw the picture of awhile back? I guess nobody but me thinks that "European" design is cool.

Yes, the DX8 seems to me to be a real winner. but did anyone notice that the ad in this month's MA magazine had a blue backlit screen, while the ad in last month's MA magazine had a orange backlit screen?

The dx10 is very much alive on their German site.

*edit*
I just noticed it has no anchor for a neck strap, seemed to me you would let it hang and rest your palms on the sides, seems like a lot to hold on to, and a bit of a reach from the side of the radio to the gimbals. So how do the Europeans grasp their radios??

I saw and handled a DX8 prototype at a fun-fly in Cincinnati a few weeks ago. Very nice radio. A couple of features I found to be interesting were the adaptation of a vibration mechanism (similar to cell phone) that one can set to activate when telemetry values are met (minimum reciever voltage, max engine temperature, etc.). It is also setup to where charging of the transmitter battery is indifferent of the polarity as it was explained that the transmitter's software corrected for polarity. It was shared that the gimbals would be the same as what's in JR's 11X. The Horizon rep also stated that he is expecting the radio to be available later this summer as there's still a bit of work to do (FCC compliance, etc.)

It's a euro tray style radio, which typically have collapsable neckstrap "arms" that fold into the radio for storage.

They "tray" style radios also are meant to be put in a tray around your neck.

Hey, having a vibrating alarm is a great idea. Even with an electric helicopter, it is still oftentimes hard to hear the audible alarm go off.

Transmitter Battery
What type of battery does the Transmitter use?
Is LIPO voltage compatibility being considered in the design of the DX-8? (I know I know lipos are unsafe and you like.....)

From Paul's tech spec post on the very first page of the thread:
- Internal universal charger supports 2s LiPo, 4s NiCad/NiMh from 12V any polarity.

5 V sounds perfectly feasible to me with 4 NiCd/NiMh cells.

i think the add is right and it is the telemitry screen showing 5v on the rx power sorce, IMHO

And i believe the dx8 can run off 2s lipo and the typical 8cell nimh which will output 12v fully charged
