Why is it, that with all the blades available - and the great merit's of the advertizement - Seem's :

Virtually "No One" provides the blade gram weight ????

Seem's that when I go looking for a " FAI" blade set" it's almost a kept a secret with in the FAI circle and I kinda don't blame them . Weight's are kept mysterious

Even the used one's don't appear and when they do - escaping the net work by accident " - shazam - their immediatley gone.

I can remember a few calls made: ANd " it's shuuch - be quite " I'm looking for them too" -

What's the secret ??????

I do not know if it is all because they want to keep it a "best kept secret". I think it is more because no two pair sets of blade, from any manufacturer, will come out to be exactly the same weight as all the other pair sets of the same blades from them. e.g. one set pair may weigh in at 220 grams each, while another set pair of the same blades, from the same manufacturer, may weigh in at 222 grams each.

This 2 gram (1%)difference between these to different pairs of blades, from the same manufacturer, would be literally undetectable as a flight difference, yet could cause grief to those selling them. If they listed that particular model of blades as weighing 222 grams, then there will always be the less informed that will want to return his, because they were 220 grams and not 222, or because his were 224 and not 222.

But there are sites that do list approximate weights as a guideline only.

Good Point But:
I just wish they listed em as 160's 185's 195's 200's ect.

It's like looking for unobtainium.

Over year ago I ordered up a set of so called advertised FAI's, in the 680mm to 690mm range.

I flew them twice ! They were so light and hot - I was afraid of tearing up the head, and gutting my digitals.

Then a friend turned me on to a used set of true FAI's and I'm never looking back. Gob's of energy, feel's like silk in flight, and the only time they bark is when their telling you something.

Wish some one would share their weight and length reference's and blade data.

Yep, I know what you mean. There have been so many manufacturers that have marketing departments who are rather loose with how the advertise their blades, be it by using the term 3D or FAI or FBL to describe their blades. Whatever they feel will turn on the consumer to buying them seems OK.

When I looked for FAI blades, I noticed that most of the top FAI fellows at the Nats had been using the Rotor Tech "01" series (as opposed to their "66" series which is for 3D) for many years. I figured if they fond them ideal, so would I.

These proved to be great FAI blades, that flew differently then their 66 series (which are as great for 3D).

I also found their "01" FAI series very good for FBL use.

Well I'm looking
For my next set: Looking for info on 600's prior to purchase - so far / I've found some 144 gram carbon stick's from down under.

Looking for a somewhat a soft feel / high inertia heavy FAI blade.
Seem's the FBL's are coming back a bit to old school weight's. Just a bit confused on what their doing on the cord C.G.s

See's their ought to be some 160gr to 180 gram stuff out their.

How about we weigh our collection's and post the "each" gram weight for a little bit of exposure.
