Panasonic Remote Control
I have actually designed some RC electronic controls to control a Panasonic HPX-170, HPX-200, digital video cameras. I would have to look up the specs on your Panasonic camera to let you know if my control would work on your panasonic camera. If it has two remote plugs on the back of the camera a 2.5mm and a 3.5mm then my control will work.

I made a trigger by mounting a servo to my camera mount and using the slide lever on the side of my transmitter I set the end points so I could push halfway for focus then all the way would snap the picture ..
sorry for the bad quality I used my Phone for this

It's worth having a look at Gentles Ltd. products. I have used both an IR based control and a LANC controller which are extremely neat and lightweight and work very reliably. Lots of options for different cameras and functions.
