I have seen and done hard 3D with the JR servo wheels. You will not strip them out. The bad thing about the metal servo arms is that if you crash you will damage the gear-train. With a plastic arm the horn will strip instead.

Tommy , the servo wheels that you are using,, do those wheels come with the 8717 servos when you buy them? Or do you have to buy them seperate?

I personally went with the Quick UK metal wheels. Look very nice and a strong.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

The plastic are just fine but check them after a crash. Now with Quk wheels if you crash you maybe replacing the top case. Guess how I how cases are 25 bucks each. LOL if you crash a lot use plastic wheels if lite on crashes go QUk.

I use them and fly pretty hard, as previously stated, I like that they strip or break in a crash before damaging the servo itself.

I fly the align wheels on mine and beat the piss out of them. The only time I had a problem is they strip when crashed. The plastic wheels are made to strip in high impact crashes where the quick uk wheels will bust your servo or at least the gears. IMHO it is better to replace a $3.50 set of plastic wheels than $25 a piece for servo gears.

Fly it like you stole it!

I have been using the stock JR servo wheels on my 700 for almost 2 years now. In fact, I use them on all my helis. I fly aggressive style 3D and I've never had any problems with them. I just check once in a awhile for cracks. Just try not to over tighten the balls. They will press all the way through the wheels. I use a bit of CA on the nut to keep if from backing off in flight.
