Thanks Align and Bert for the video

One thing I didn't get, if I need to adjust the gain on the Elevator or Aileron (on the Align system) do I need to go back to the DIR mode or can I just adjust it anytime? Thx

No need to redo DIR setup for gain changes.

The video skips tail servo & tail gyro set up. The steps are the same as setting the 750/780 gyro.

I am still a little confused about changing AFR on aileron only. It is stated that there is a virtual swash ring, and you can only change the AFr on aileron. there is no effect by changing the elevator AFR?
Am I understanding that correct? With mine setup at 12 degrees on ail and ele. I get a much slower roll rate on Ail, and blinding quick on ele. I increased the roll rate on ail by increasing the AFR on ail. But lowering the value on ele, it still appears just as quick.
I am using an ATX SD10G, and the swash setups are a little different than Fut or JR

thanks

As I understand it, the cyclic ring is set up using the aileron swash value limit only. As long as you have the aileron swash value set up correctly, it doesn't really matter what the elevator swash value is for the purpose of setting up the cyclic ring.

When you teach the system the elevator limits in step 2 and the aileron limits in step 4, it then calculates a ratio between aileron and elevator which is used to determine how much cyclic to apply for any given stick position. While the elevator swash value could technically be anything for the purposes of calculating this mixing ratio, it's simplest just to set it to the same thing as the aileron swash value.

After the setup is complete, adjusting the elevator swash value will affect the elevator cyclic and adjusting the aileron swash value will affect the aileron cyclic.

How come Bert is using the single hole horns and not the new ones??

Also didn't notice the grey tape under the gyro that comes with the kit. Is he using something different?

PS I love my 3G on all my align ships

Cause I stripped the servo horns and I didn't have any of the new ones This is not very critical although I recommend using the new ones on the inner hole.

The tape is just 3M tape, I have installed this unit on various helicopters and have ran out of Align tape, no difference there, any tape that provides good dampening and sticks well would work.

Pablo, I run the gain knobs at about 9 o'clock on both, maybe even a bit less.

Bert can you confirm that I shouldn't need to trim for a hover?

If I set it in a nice hover, it falls out towards the rear right. (No wind)
I have read some guys say to use trim, but I don't feel that should be the case.

I have drift which I believe is engine/clutch stack vibe related.
I can feel vibes on the sensor at idle.

I have almost eliminated it using Zeal tape, a metal plate & a stock foam, but still drifting. It was very bad to begin with.
Gain tweaking doesn't help.

Swash perfectly level in setup, sensor level, no use of subtrim, geometry correct, all trims disabled. (except throttle)

Have gone through setup procedure a few times but still the same.

Hi Bert Kammerer

i saw your video on setting up the 3g fbl (great video) but what i cant figure out is how to increase or decrease cyclic pitch on my trex 550 3g. can you please instruct me how to achieve this PLEASE.

RADIO- DX6I
RECEIVER- AR6200
ALAIGN 3G FBL FL760

ive tried changing the values in the swash mix AIL & ELE and then go to dir mode and teach it the limits but i still get between 6-7 cyclic pitch. i wanna get the 12 deg and after i get the 12 during programming the ill reduce it to my needs when im done with the programming.

Hello,

You are actually doing exactly what you need to do. Simply increase the swash mix values for AIL and ELE. Keep doing so until you get to where you need to be.

Bert

But what I don't get is when do I increase or decrease the AIL AND ELE cyclic pitch, during the programing of the FBL system or in the radio it self before I get into programming mode in the FBL(meaning with the heli off) That's what I don't understand.

Thanks for ur time.
