I've been using TJ's for a long time. They are a great gov/limiter. Simple, easy, and effective.

Hell... I can fix that.
Uh oh..
Nope.

I've been using GV-1s so I'm ignit about TJs. Is the TJ a govenor and the Rev Max a rev limiter? I thought the Throttle Max combined their gov and rev limiter together. I guess what I really want to know is, are they reliable and durable and do they do the job. Are they easy to set up and forget?
Thanks

I have had several TJ Pro's and would not hesitate to buy the new TJ Max. They are straight forward to setup as long as you have a linear throttle curve as close to +100 and -100 as possible on the end points.

I think this is where some get frustrated with the setup. For bench setup the bottom and top of the throttle need to be setup near factory setting on the radio, in other words not using too much EPA/ATV. Also setup the 'gain' channel to be 0 and 100 on a switch. Otherwise it won't enter into calibration. It's pretty simple once you do it, sounds more complicated written out than it really is.

I've used the TJ Pro governor, and the RevMax Limiter, one each in Trex 600's.

Last fall I put the Throttle Max into a Trex 700, and am running it as a governor (TJ Pro).

At first, I thought I preferred the Limiter over the governor in my 600's. As I flew those helis more and more this past summer, I found myself liking the governor much better than the limiter. In the meantime, MA started selling the Throttle Max -- where you get to choose at setup time which mode to operate in. That one got set up as a governor.

When I read that you could send your TJ Pro OR RevMax back and have them reprogrammed to become Throttle Max units for $10 a whack, I shipped the TJ Pro AND the RevMax back for the upgrade. Now, I own three Throttle Max units, and currently all are set to operate in Governor mode. If I decide to try Limiter mode again, it's now a setup thing, as the Throttle Max will do either function-- governor or limiter.

Yes, they are reliable, durable, and work great. Setup is simple, fast, and pretty much foolproof.

Okay. I think I will get the TM. I need 2 govs/revmax gismos and didn't want another 2 GV1s. Thought about the ATG, but the TM look so much simpler and lighter.

I have RevMax limiters on three nitro helis. I don't even bother connecting 'em to the rx -- never have. During first flights with fresh builds I manually dial in the max rpm I want my motors to spin while in stunt mode (Idle Up 2), and control non-3D headspeeds (Idle Up 1 & Normal) with well-tailored throttle curves.

I've never had a RevMax fail.

I'll only buy the Throttle Max if ModelAvionics stops making the RevMax, and if I do they'll run in limiter mode.

I tried both -- Governor mode in a Trex 600 with an OS 50, Limit mode in a Trex 600 with a YS 50.

I prefer the Governor mode.

I have 2 T max and one Rev max. All of them are working very good in limiter mode.

My last order got a faulty T max NIP which could not read the sensor, i.e. no red light. I tried my existing sensors, it is just not working with anyone of them.
