SO im getting ready to order the motor for my 500e. Ive always really been impressed with Neu motors and plan on using one in this machine. There are however 2 choices the 1706 1.5Y which is 1255kv OR the 1706 2Y which is 950 KV. So I was sorta hoping maybe somebnody has run either of these and could give me thier opinion and pinion size used.It looks like I might have to open the frames up a bit if anybody has done this and can tell me if they took materiel off the front of the opening or the back that would be great as I sent my frames out yesterday to have them cut out of carbon fiber and I could tell him to open it up when he makes them if needed.
Thanks
Benth
Also I have the CC ICE 75 ESC.

I looked at the Neu Motors as I am also fond of the power(torque) and efficiency. The 1706H 1.5 is too much Kv for the Vibe 500e gearing and trying to keep the ESC in the 60%-80% range. I could not find a 1706H 2Y but that sounds like it would be perfect.

Can they make you one?

Its listed on either the Castle Creations site or the Neu site. I cant remember which one but its only on one of them for some reason. I contacted Castle and they said it would work very well. I was thinkin the 1255KV would be too much but thought I would ask.

Here is the data on the EFlite Power 25 which is the reccommended
motor. Bottom Line the Neu 1706 2Y should work, only thing to check is the diameter as Neu is 1.7" diameter. Everything else is perfect.
I would go for the NEU.

6) E-Flite Power 25
i) Poles=12
ii) RPM/Volt (Kv): 1000Kv
iii) Resistance (Ri): .026 ohms
iv) Idle Current (Io): 2.60A @ 20V
v) Continuous Current: 38A
vi) Maximum Burst Current: 58A (15 sec)
vii) Weight: 196 g (6.9 oz)
viii) Overall Diameter: 35mm (1.40 in)
ix) Shaft Diameter: 5mm (.20 in)
x) Overall Length: 56mm (2.20 in)
xi) Max Efficiency 82%
xii) ESC Timing 20-25 deg
xiii) ESC Switching Freq. 8-16KHz

I think the gearbox is for running it in a plane with a prop. You can get the 1706/2Y without a gear drive and thats what you would want. I'm still not sure what size pinion to run as I havnt got my carbon frames back yet so I havnt flown it yet. If you get yours together before me let me know what size pinion you run and how it runs. It took a couple weeks for my motor to show up so order soon

If you go the Castle's site you and see the 1706/2Y which is what you want. 960kV should be 12T pinion.

Mystic have you run it yourself? I've got people tellng me the eflite power 25 that it's designed for is a more powerful motor. I have a hard time believing that.

I have not run the Neu nor the Kora. I would actually like to try both.

The Kora 15-14 on 6S is supposed to be good, but suspect it is light and efficient, probably not the most power. My problem is they are scarce in the US and I do not like paying a $30.00 shipping for a $130.00 motor from Europe...

The Neu is going to be a little tight in the frames, but my experience with Neu's is a lot of torque, cool running, efficient.. A couple of months to order and they custom build them....

The EFlite Power 25 is pretty strong, the reason I wanted something else is in governed mode on Jive 80LV I was at 40% throttle, not where I wanted to be..

So went from 960Kv on EFlite to 70% on Scorpion 3026-880Kv...

That is what I am running now, Scorpion

Thanks for the info Michelin that really is good to know. Any chance you ran the Eflite motor first? I got a guy telling me that it would be a more powerful motor but I find that hard to believe.

I would not doubt for a minute the EFlite Power 25 is more powerful, it's 1000Kv vs the Neu 950Kv. But I would expect the Neu to be A LOT
more efficient....

Well the 950 vs. 1000 shouldnt be a huge deal. its a 1250 rpm difference in motor speed on a motor turning around 25,000rpm. However I now have the 1706/2Y in my Vibe 500 and im not really happy with it. I was expecting some pretty crazy power from this thing and it just doesnt deliver. I have the 45C thunder power 2650 6S packs so thats not the issue. im now thinking of getting the scorpion because they have always had great power. Cant say id advise the Neu.

Benth,

What Pinion you running?
I have a EFlite Power 25 that gives great power, just heat. Strange but my Scorpion 3026-880Kv is even getting 138 deg F, Jive is ambient, packs ambient.

Want to trade my motor + $ for your Neu?

Im running the bigger of the 2 included in the kit. I believe its 14T. What motor are you offering for trade? Im going to get the Scorpion HK3024-1020 to replace the Neu. If thats the one your offering we could probly work something out. I really doubt you will be happy with it though. A 4 minute flight on regular idle up gets that motor so hot you cant touch it. I havnt even tried idle 2 100%. It just doesnt have the power I was looking for, even my Trex 250 kills it in climbs. I really think if I keep running it its gonna burn out so ive grounded it until I get the scorpion. It spools up sooo smooth and sounds great but when it come time to pop the collective it just bogs out. I was runnin +/- 11 degrees and thought that was the issue so I bumped it up to almost +/- 14 and it just bogs worse now. This machine should rip.

Berth,

The kit comes with 12T and 13T. I think your pinion is not allowing the motor to turn enough RPM.
I was running a 12T on EFlite Power 25 at 1000 Kv with Jive 80LV Governed.
Now running 12T on Scorpion 880Kv at 2800 RPM at 80% Flat Throttle Curve.

Did you try 12T?
What ESC and headspeed you running?

I have the EFlite Power 25 Heli version at 1000Kv for Trade, going to be just like Scorpion 3026-1000Kv. The ONLY reason I run the scorpion 880 instead of the EFlite is I have some 20C packs I do not want to toast.

I am REALLY at a Dilemma here. I want a motor that is efficient and powerful but seem to be running out of options.

1. EFlite Power 25 - Powerful but hard on 20C Packs
2. Scorpion 3026 - 880Kv, Okay Power, Efficient - Current Motor
3. Neu 1706H/2Y - Hoped Powerful and Efficient?? - (Waiting for Feedback)
4. Scorpion 3026 1000Kv - Prob Powerful but prob so close to EFlite
5. Kora 15-14 - Prob efficient, but suspect not powerful(waiting for Feedback)

Prob should just suck it up and ditch the 20C packs.

The Neu 1107H/2Y on my 450 is perfect, much better than any scorpion I have tried.....Ohh Well

I have a Scorpion 3026 1000 on the way for $50 I found. I tried the 12t with the Neu Sunday it was even less powerful than before with the 13. It's entirely possible Im just used to the Rave 6S flybarless and that the 500 just can't be that fast. If the scorpion is disapointing and you still wanna trade the Eflite for the Neu then I'll try that. I should have the scorpion here for Sunday and I'll let you know. I don't care much about efficiency I like power. Also I don't think a pyro 600 would be even close to fitting. The Neu barly fits.
