Sorry for posting this here but I figured it would get the most attention. A bit of a funny story for you guys aswell....

A buddy that I taught to fly around 5 years ago bought a V2 raptor, OS32, 401/9253 with a T6XH with stock servos, I think its got maverikk glass blades, TT pipe for OS, Hanger 9 flight box with a decent panel and syllivan hi-torq starter. Nothing special. He sends me a text message today asking if I know anyone that wants to buy it. I ask him how much. He says hed like to get $1000 for everything. I replied back with a huge LOL and told him that hed be lucky to get $250 for it.

Its a bit dirty from sitting in the garage and it hasnt flown since 2007, it flew ok but there was something wrong with the motor, it would run lean and cut out, it might just need a good cleaning but you never know, could have gotten crap in the motor and its on its way out.

What do you guys think its worth?

I cant find any V2 kits on ebay used, I saw 1 V1 raptor RTF minus a TX for about 130. I valued his V2 at $75-$100 in todays market, a used 401 is worth $50-$75 on ebay, I cant even find a used 32SXH on ebay, Id say his is worth $40 MAX. Those old T6 radios sell for around $10-20 on ebay with no servos. stock servos I wouldnt take for free, maybe for a throttle servo but even so, I'll buy a new one for $15. LOL I was right in the ballpark $235-$250 for everything. Whats your thoughts? He does have a crashed V1 for parts aswell but I have no clue whats there.

If anyone has any serious offers I will pass them along. Its not a bad beginner setup, my main concern is the motor.

feel free to voice your true feelings, it wont offend me any.

He'll be LUCKY to see $250 for that. Theres no demand for that heli at all anymore and usually when they do pop up they have much better elec's and guys get no more than 500 usually.

I had one I got in a trade, summer of 09. Nice electronics and servos. Could not get $250.00 tried for weeks. Parted it out, and got my $250.00 out of it, electronics sold fast, airframe with motor still took 2 months to sell.
If he sticks to his $1000.00 price, let him sell it himself, you will just wasteing your energy, with no positive results possiible.
He could donate it to a school and get a $1000.00 tax deduction. That way he gets what he wants for it.
Good Luck

Does he still have the original box
After reading this and all the work you
have done for your friend and research i
truly believe that he should just give it
to you!!! It sounds like you know about the
RC world and will have to admit you are right
on with what you found,As far as your friend sounds to me
like he is desperate for money? if thats the case
my best advise is like stated in a post above mine
is donate to charity and take the tax credit!
$1000.00 I hope you have a talk to him ,Another
thought is maybe try Antique"s Roadshow they
may give you the option going to Auction?

sounds like the fuel line inside the fuel tank has gone bad. Replace all the fuel lines and I'll be it'll run a lot better.

Sell it locally to someone getting started. Running well and flying he might get $300 for RTF.

If its all there, not crashed and motor needs tuned then its worth $350-$400 all day.I sold my old V1 for $400.00 https://rc.runryder.com/p4184418/ .Someone thats comming from a Blade 400,Trex 450 or somthing like that will pay $350-$400 for it.The 30 can be upgraded to a 50 down the road anyways,if it was mine I wouldn't go under $350.00.

Market
Sadly it is worthless compared to the investment. Your only and best option is Fleebay if you are looking for money. Everyone here knows what they want and have classified experience.

My advice is if money is not a big player in your life is to find a family member or a child without the ability to ever own or fly an RC heli and give it to them with some guided help and buddy cord time. If you have a good club with good members you could donate it as a trainer and it might live a long useful life.

I would not expect more than 200 as pretty much all of the heli is dated by today's standards and parts would be an issue.

My .02 cents.

Raptor 30 is still being sold and parts for a Raptor is one of the easiest heli's to source for.

but used Raptors don't sell for too much. If you price it right it'll sell quick on RCU or maybe locally. If it were mine I'd spend a bit of time to get it running right.

Must be the economy
With the economy, either nobody is buying ANYTHING, or they're buying cheap chinese knock-offs for next to nothing. Excellent deals abound if you want to spend the money and the selelr is desperate, but if you want a decent dollar for anything, forget it. Wish him luck, maybe he'll find a sucker...
