Ive been stuck Iowa for 4 weeks now, and I have 2-3 months left..

And I have noticed that flying in the snow sucks - any tips on visibility, and a decent radio mitt

I have found it helps alot to clear a field the day before you go flying..All you need is a generator, a couple 50 foot extension cords and a hair dryer.

Make sure you arrive as soon as the sun comes up..Melt a nice 200 square foot section and hope it doesnt snow overnight. Works like a charm.

Have fun

Clearing the field the day before doesnt make it any warmer..Ive tried many times with the same results..cold cold cold..Although it raises your spirits and makes you fly better because it looks a bit like summer

Yes, US people up North here do some odd stuff
Just like YA'll down there do some odd stuff

If you really want to be comfy when flying outside in the snow and cold.... Get some long johns, winter boots, ski pants and a good jacket that breaks the wind. Throw some layers on under the coat too. A TX Mitt is a must unless it is sunny out and very mild wind. The wind is really what does you in.

2-3 months left. Perfect! You will be there for the whole winter

Common Over ! Weather Here is PEACHEY - I got a D- Handle Shovel fer ya !
Got to admit it : This is one of the meanest winter's we have seen In a long time. We've had some so mild we flew all winter - without even coat's on ! This year is rough. Scare y part is when all this snow in the Mid west and the Dakotas melt's and heads south. It's gonna get wet so I'd be getting ready!!

Got-in so bad I'm even cleaning em -and I've got plank's stacking up for cannon fodder.

Come and grab a shovel !

Are those ibis or flamingos walking across your yard in the snow?

instead of clearing the field, couldnt you just spray paint the snow in the field green? might be easier than a hair dryer...

The irony! Last year about this time we had an ample accumulation of snow and subfreezing temperatures. Today it was sunny and about 60F with a gentle sutherly breeze all day. I think I got a sunburn!

Not to rub it in - anybody who knows anything about Seattle weather knows this is not the norm, to state it mildly.

We have a heated club house and have a guy come a remove the snow. The great thing about flying during winter is that the air is denser and the heli therefore floats more easily. Try it and you will see.
