I'm at the end of a Superior rebuild, need to find some tail rotor control guides....

The boom has a diameter (OD) of 18 mm....

Anybody happen to know who's boom mounted
guides will slip on that boom?

Or Who sells 18mm (ID) tail rotor control guides?

Thanks in advance....

Schluter TR push rod guides
Hello John: I just checked the old Excel tail boom dia. and it is 19mm. They copied the Schluter TR push rod guide design and it is part# 0477. I am sure you can make this part work if you can find it. You would need to remove a small amount of material from each joint face/surface that bolts together, if you get my drift. I would start by contacting Heliproz since they are the new owners of Miniature Aircraft. Also, there may be Run Ryder members that have this old Excel part laying around. Good luck!

Try Century, Miniature or Vario...
That boom should be 20mm OD, and 18mmID.

The Century heli's are very accessible and many use 20mm booms. I would think a Raven or Hawk pushrod guide would do the trick.

Vario has 20mm booms too and if you know how to search their site, can net you quite an interesting (but pricey) number of options.

Miniature Aircraft copied their guides right from Schluter's and even though the Miniature tail boom is closer to 19mm (3/4"), their guides will work fine. Just remember to get the guides meant for the X-Cell 60 series of heli's. The newer lineup of models no longer use the style of guides you desire.

Thanks for the Info...
Thanks HELI HEADCASE, for the info on the xcell stuff,I had a long talk with Blue angel, and was also pointed in that direction as well.
To bad the heliparts folks don't get together and standandize or list
dimensions on parts better. Heck, tail boom mounted parts should all be listed in ID and OD...Alot of stuff could be interchangeable , fins, guides, etc...if the dimensions where just out there to see.

I'd like that too but I think it would allow parts buyers to pick and choose a little too easily. The manufactures would start losing their hold on what otherwise looks like 'exclusive' parts made only to fit the one particular heli model. What can you do other than collect such data on your own for future reference. Share it when possible.

Happy hunting

spec listing
yea... a cross reference list would make parting stuff together, way to easy.

That would be a great posting section:
Boom hardware specs:
t-rex
Gmp
Shulter
Align and so on.

We modelers could cross reference it on our own

I know what you mean about manufactures loosing control...

Buying a AL tube at home depot was way to easy to replace the one I busted on a gmp cobra years ago.

I think it was $3.00 for.... ten feet of tubing,
thems were the good old days, buy some tubing, cut it yourself,
dremel the wood drive wire disks to fit the ID, glue the brass tube to the disks, install....etc etc
