Just recently reworked my Hangar Queen CF K3D. It's been sitting on the equipment rack of the home theater for quite some time now.

I decided it was time to give the heli a chance to play. Time moves on, and there have been some new goodies I wanted to try out on my flagship Knight. So now it's home to an OS 55HZ, a Century FBL head, Align 3G flybarless electronics, CF landing gear struts, G-Force tail grips with the "Chinese weight" feature, SAB "Red Devil" mains , matching ElyQ tails, and I added a high amperage capable rocker switch for the RX.

Currently, it weighs in at just a couple of grams under 7lbs. RTF, less fuel. I have plans to reduce that even more courtesy of some 3D+ parts. Should fly like the proverbial Enraged Ape !

Jay

P.S. I"m hoping some more flybarless Compass models will show up here.

Goals and Expectations
Been a little cold here to mess with a new nitro motor, so it won't be maidened until the weather gets a little warmer.

Flybarless has been around for a while now and it comes as no surprise to me that you just don't see too many Compass guys going that route. Quite frankly if the K3D flies as well FBL as it does with the stock head I will be pleased.

Why then spend the money you might ask? To be honest I spoiled myself. Since late last summer I've been primarily flying a 600E, and I've become accustomed to the power to weight ratio of the electric.

The lightened, barless, larger motor Knight is an attempt to close the performance gap so that my nitro powered birds don't feel so tame by comparison.

I will post again here as soon as I get some flight time on her.
