Brilliant! Lets further punish the achievers. The engine of the economy. Small family businesses. That'll really help with unemployment.

The reason businesses are not hiring is because they are in fear of what this government will do to them next (cap-n-trade, healthcare taxes, taxes in general, regulations). They don't look out on the horizon and see a stable, inviting environment. A world in which they can plan for the future, hire employees, expand, etc. They see government running around dropping land mines, then yelling, "Why aren't you hiring?".

The economy is not a zero sum game. It can grow and shrink. Punishing the wealthy does nothing to improve the lives of the poor. On the other hand, getting big brother out of the way and reducing tax burdens WILL increase productivity and result in more jobs, more growth, and even more government tax revenues. (Of course this would require politicians diminishing their own power... handing some control back to the private sector... not likely).

Tax laws have behavioral consequences. Increasing tax rates by 15% does not produce a 15% increase in revenues in the real world as it does in the minds of simpletons. Increasing taxes on producers will only reduce productivity and make things worse for everyone in the long run. Employment and government revenues will go down.

But don't worry, the ranks of the "public" sector will be increased to make up the difference. DOH!

This has always been the "cure" to fix the economy from those that haven't worked in or owned a business. They read it in a book somewhere!

it's our own damned fault. He was upfront about redistributing the wealth. Who knew that in this instance, a politician was telling the truth...

I think he's saving his really good ideas for when we really need them.
Meanwhile, the Obama Whitehouse is spending all of their time thinking up new campaign lies and trying to get "global warming" revved back up!

Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about!

I thought that India and China had never fallen for it in the first place?
Only in a country like ours and in places like the left coast or NewYork would people be gullible enough to fall for something so clearly illogical.
Of course there are a few in Arkansas and Nevada that fell for it too!
