Do you have to use 3G gyro for the tail or can you leave what system you already have like we say a Spartan ? Does it have to do the Align 3G tail gyro to make the FBL system to work correctly ? The reason why Im asking is some are having problems with tail holding as good as they once had with orignal system .

Oh what a feeling 3D Flying can be

yes you can use your own gyro with the 3G system, you just leave your tail as it is and just use the 3G for cyclic.
that said im using the 3G for the tail aswell and have no problems, i admit it takes a bit of playing around to set it spot on but once your there its fine

People who complains about tail not holding probably have something not setup correctly. Of the 3G system I got my hands on, nobody has complained about tail yet. An improper setup tail will wag/drift regardless of what gyro is on there.

And if you insist, yes you can use separate gyro for tail.

From my experience with the Align 760 tail gyro, it is picky about mechanical setup. You have to get it centered and have no binding on the ends for it to work well. It is a night and day difference when you get it set up right. I have yet to fly my 3G system, waiting for some weather that is above 10 degrees lol

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter

I'd say it's not a good idea using another gyro for the tail on the 3G. Surely the algorithms of the cyclic take into account the tail?? I haven't flown the 780 but I have the 750 and it is whippy and unpredictable in any piro move. Great gyro if your just hovering or flying circuits with a few flips or rolls but try a piro wall of death or a piro flip and the tail will give you issues. Sure it can be done but its not comfortable.

780 is a world of difference from the 750...
