Anymore pics guys?! Looks like for the 500 there are not a lot of choices for placement of the 3G unit!

Steph280....install looks good on the 500!! I think mine will be about the same...just a little worried about having it outside the frame, but the smaller helis have to have it this way.

Actually the control box can easily be fitted in between the frame. I did just that on the T-Rex 600, but I had to pull the box out everytime I want to change the gain, or even just to see what color the LED is at startup. So I just saved all the hassles and mounted it outside.

3G on an MA Stratus
This is my first attempt at FBL. Installed the Align 3G with a RJX head on my old MA Stratus. I don’t have it’s totally dialed in yet but am very impressed with the performance. This thing will flip so fast that I had to remove some of the cyclic deflection. (way too much for me to handle right now). First few flights were like taming a bucking bronco but she seems to be getting better and better each time I take her up.

If you look at the power delivery you can see I made a few changes. All servo power comes from the associated rx channel and I have only attached the signal wire to the 3G unit. The 3G power lead is plugged into one of my open Aux channels. Another thing I noticed was if power is turned off at the rx and the tx is not reset all lights on the rx’s will blink. This may cause brownouts. I have a friend that had this same thing happen with his Vbar. Crashed the heli and everything. If for any reason you cycle the power to the unit always cycle the power to the tx as well or you run the chance of a brownout.

3G On A Predator Gasser
Had to use the stock Century head (10mm shaft) instead of the Align 700 head (12mm shaft). The Century 10mm to 12mm adapter sleeve was not a solution, as it allowed way too much slop on the 12mm side. I'm having a better adapter sleeve machined. More pictures at my Gallery.

Hey TheBillMan you might want to rethink your metal servo horn's. There is a lot of energy transferred to the servo's in the event of a crash. Unless you like replacing servos and gear's

Easternav,

Thanks for the tip on the metal servo wheels…. Unfortunately though the reason why I’m using them is because I have a V2 EX canopy cover and when I ran the Align servo horns they rub against the inside of it…

My 500 install (and battery tray mod on a original T500CF) with RJX head.

My 2 500ESP use identical 3G layout, along with normal 3G head and Align DS510 servos

looking good Jim!

Change that motor to a 500M and you'd be golden. That's the 2nd most worthwhile upgrade to my 500 (first being the 3G).
