Yes but you are striving for perfection which i wish had come with the kit in the first place!I like things to be as good as possible and it seems that this is your way also from your posts.
All this un certainty just leaves me in 2 minds about not building it. I keep following the threads in the section hoping to help me firm up on my decision. The kit is waiting for me in Phoenix and i will head out to pick it up next saturday so still have time to think. Plus I read I will need a new back plate to firm up the frame...great!
Cheers
Mark

i do tend to strive for the best, or the best it can be out of the box. i also thnk anyone would like that to be the case as well. someone else said that on new products, its not tyically until its release and people are using it that the little quarks show up, but are they huge problems? no, they are all simple and resolvable is the heli a pos? not at all. had i bought mine after they had been out for a while, i would have been able to look in the forums and find all the fixes, but i got mine pretty much as they were released so i was with the handful of people that were finding things out as they came up and helping with the resolutions.

its a nice build, a great looking heli and flies well out of the box, but your right, there could have been a few extra things included with the kit to make it a little better (bottom plate, frame stiffners and tt right out of the box would have been great). the swash is not that big of a deal, people run mixes all the time, i just prefer not to...

all in all, im happy with it, im just picky and like to voice my opinion

Swash
400driver...
Just so you understand, the swashplate is not wrong out of the box.
I thought it was too. If you look closely this is designed as a 1:1 mix swashplate. There is another swashplate coming from ElyQ.
You can see it here under 3D/FAI-Configuration:
http://www.elyq.com/pdf/news/v50c_conf_en.pdf

The stock swash ships a the 1:1 option.
The new swashplate ships as a 1.66:1 ratio and looks like a regular Align style swash. Pick your flying style or preference and pick your swashplate.

I will be running the new swashplate and the bell cranks when they ship. Just my preference, and I hope to move my CG farther forward when the bell cranks ship. Right now I'm still tail heavy even with a 3600mah 2s flight pack.

well, you would have to get the aluminum ones because nobody has the carbon booms in stock, lol...

it would be nice too if there were a great parts supply for these too, yet there is not. sure some places carry parts, but not all parts.
You can get parts at amainhobbies now

would be nice if i could send my original swash in and have it exchanged for the new version.
Just seen the price for the bottom frame plate...$$$ the raptor one seems like a more economical option.

Probably a bit cautious, but I'm swapping mine. I'd be gutted if it happened to my new machine after reading about it.

Hope the re-build goes well.

Cheers,

Simon

im just glad i didnt put my second one up because when i got home, i noticed a couple stress cracks in the carbon boom on it, so that one would have surely went in too, then i would have really lost it, lol.

who knows, could have just been a few bad ones from a bad lot or something, will never know. qa is not 110% in china.

i dont mind paying for rebuilds from crashes when they are my own fault, but from a defect in a part, its wasted money that shouldnt have needed to be spent in the first place, oh well though... its only money, will make more tomorrow, lol...

does your 2nd boom also look like air pockets in the resin? Very much a QA issue if it is.

can you see the air on the outside of the boom or do you need to look inside? I'm going to pull the boom off and put an aluminum one on anyhow.

I just finished my 50 competition. As I did a FBL conversion right from the beginning (RJX head, V-Bar) I had to change the swash ratio and achieved this by simply using shorter balls on the inner ring and slightly longer ones on the outer ring. I could have changed for a different one, but the quality of the stock one seems absolutely fine. When it stops snowing and the sun will come out I will take some pics if anybody is interested.

I'm dying to do exactly what you have done to your V50C.
Please let us know how it works out! Can you show us some pics of what you are talking about with the swashplate balls? It sounds like you just swapped the inner balls with the outer ones. Pics please

No, I have picked the ball-lenghts I needed to get the optimal servoarm/swash/head-geometry for the V-Bar, i.e. to achieve aprox. +/- 12 deg. pitch and +/- 9 deg. cyclic at 100 pct servo throws. As it´s 10.30 p.m. here and I still got some more "serious" work to do, I will make and post pics tomorrow and give you the exact ball-lenghts..... C-U tom.

well, the good thing about going fbl, the swash interaction doesnt matter with the ouoter/inner rings being on different planes because the vbar will take care of all that
