I agree, Don! There are plenty of threads discussing the virtues of both.

Let's carry on with Dino's original topic.

I welcome the X50 and TT's vision of giving us a choice.

Now, Dino. Come on the suspence is killing us.........What is the new ASSURANCE program..........??

Cheers

Thanks Billiebob for your post.Interesting, informative and well reasoned.
Start a new thread for eCCPM vs mCCPM

Lets keep this thread about the new X50 and not about eCCPM vs mCCPM. We can discuss that in a new thread.
This is what we are discussing The new X50? TT have moved away from M-CCPM so why not discuss it? They are offering tube drive or belt drive so shall we not discuss the virtues of that? Or shall I start a new thread? Oh...what about the new head design verses the old design shall I start a new thread on that?? Same with the frame design hmmmm new thread?

Oh sorry you want to read 100 posts just discussing how excited people are that the X50 is coming out.

I just wished they made one-piece balls instead of ball and screw. It would eliminate one source of free-play.

Just a technicality, but the new model, the X50, is not a Raptor any more. TT don't use the term "Raptor" on any of their information, confirming IMO that this is the start of a new "Line" of heli's.

Close up from another thread.. Sweet...

I hope not.... Raptor is their brand. I just bought their Raptor 50 with the redline and the black head. My parents got me one for my graduation present its awesome!

Why have the designers of this machine adopted to continue using the very parts that let down the Raptor in the 1st place Looking at all the pics, there is alot of yummy CF and 'designer' stuff but with no redress as to the fundemental weaknesses which were identified several years ago. Yes, I am still a raptor fan but given the above, my loyalty wains.
If TT want to make a hot heli, then they are obliged to deal with the fundemental weaknesses first and foremost, then anything thereafter is hopefully a plus.

Nothing will stay together when it hits the ground, With that being said everything mechanical breaks and it will if not maintained.

ok list what you think are the weakness YUG,

I can say i never had one of the screws that go through the ball fail on me, i never had a ball wear out on me, I haven't bent the screw in flight, so what are the fundamental weakness of the TT helis what parts are you talking about i truly want to read your list.

I also just looked in your gallery nice but you dont even fly a stock bird like the rest of the team does, if your telling me that you are braking and wearing stuff out faster than Me or Colin or even Tom and Will then i need to see you in action.

Yug posted this earlier in this thread:
use of M2 screws on head, tail grips without thrust bearings, the 6mm flybar and last but not least, the dreaded auto hub.
The link on the first page of this thread says:
"Both main and tail rotors feature dual radial bearings and a thrust bearing."

I don't have any other info on the other items.

The picture above from AllThumbs shows that the X50 uses a push-pull system on the 3 servos. I have a Trex500 that has direct links to the servo arms from the swash.

Does the push-pull survive a crash better? I mean not stripping the servo gears so often?

I believe that push/pull just eases some of the wear and strain on the servo by equalizing some of the applied forces. That being said I still can't wait to get one of these in my hands. Does anyone have any pics of the torque tube version?
