Unfortunately however, the native resolution is 1024X768. This means that all images will be rendered in 4:3 and not 16:9. Effectively, watching any sort of widescreen video in either portrait or landscape mode will have the dreaded black bars. That is unacceptable IMO for a device that is being released in 2010.
that's a good point.

kookboy,

your comparison to the ipod and iphone is foolish. The iPad is not meant to be a portable music player with video/photo capability thrown in.

It's meant to be a barebones computer. It fails as both a computer and as a portable music player/video player because of it's lack of computer features and lack of memory. 16gb is absolutely pathetic and shouldn't be offered in ANY device being released now unless it's an ipod shuffle or nano.

Stupidity can be cured. Ignorance is for life!

It's not foolish.

If you can remember that far back, the Itouch was being hailed as one of the worst apple creations went it was announced.

When it came out, majority of reviews/people's exp. hated it.

Wait for a while and then all of a sudden this POS of a mini tablet just got a massive injection of user created applications that were actually useful.

That is what I meant and I was pretty clear about it.

The same goes for the pad.

People always slam things they don't see fit for themselves and ignore the possibilities of applications it can be used for in the future just like the Itouch/phone.

I don't see a need for it for myself but my woman will get one because just like another member posted here, she wants something to read/watch while she's around the house. And a folding laptop doesn't cut it.

She carries around her Iphone for that but always complained the screen is too small since she has to pick it up.

The pad will give her the same things she likes in her Iphone minus the phone and now she can cook hands free or do whatever she likes doing while looking at this thing or listening to it.

I don't care for it but if this thing will make my woman's life a touch easier and happy, then that makes me happy.

It would have been foolish for Apple to put out a product that they think would have bombed.

There's obviously a market for this type of product.

Wait for a while and you will see how many useful apps people will create to tailor the pad.

Here you go :

Nice

I think everyone who owns an itouch or iphone at some point wishes it had a larger screen.

I just can't get over that I-pad name. jeez. the butt of all jokes.

Why isn't anyone talking about the potential ergonomic issues of the iPad? Im sticking with my MB Pro!! I can't seem myself holding it in an inclined position for an extended time, or having to bend my knees to see the screen, or looking straight down all the time.
Can't wait to hear all the my neck hurts, and ohh my wrist hurt stories in a couple of months.

I definitely see Apple making modifications in Ver2 of this down the road. May they'll incorporate a design similar to a laptops clam design, so it can fold up and down as needed.
Haven't seen or touched the iPad yet, but i'm sure Apple's design team will be able to make that happen by adding only a few mm's to make that happen.
