Hey Blade, I had the same thing happen to me with 8717 HV and i am pissed Align does not say any thing in the instructions which way to plug the servos in . They need to fix this problem ASAP there should be no way you should be able to plug a servo upside down and burn up three 8717 HV worth $600.00 this is crap.

The public should be warned and align should be held responseable. This is a problem that needs to be addressed fast. If they don't acknowledge this we need to make sure it is put out there for everyone to read. This should not happen, even with new servos I still am not sure which way to plug them in.

Come on guys.the only differance between a JR plug and a Futaba plug is the tag, everything else is the same.orentation, bevel etc.
Try looking at the plug and socket before inserting it.
Thereis plenty of other equeptment out there that takes both plugs.
Why blame Align for your mistakes!!!!!!!!!!

Hey old guy, I have been in RC for thirty years and I have never had this happen to me and i have pluged servos in upside down and this has never smoked my servos. If I could make this mistake beleive me it will to a lot more people.

I am blaming Align because it should be in the instructions and I can't find it any were maybe i'm missing something. i'm not sure what the hell happend but all i'm trying to say is this should not be so easy to burn your servos up with this simple mistake.

The only way this could burn a servo is if you jumped a pin, not installing it in the wrong direction. Not a hard concept really

Most if not all issues regarding tha g3 I see is user error.

REGULATER, if you've been in RC for 30 years, you've certainly used Futaba plugs before (JR wasn't around until Circus Hobbies), and you would know the side with the tab is the signal wire. The 3G sockets do have tabs to index the plugs. And even if you do plug it in backwards, like what everybody says, I don't see how it can fry the servo, unless JR is doing something weird to the signal wire voltage on those HV servos.

That's why I prefer Futaba plugs. There is no way you can plug it in backwards.

I've been running the 7100R with 8717's for over a year with not one problem on 8v. Put the 3g unit in and its been fine. Talking with a tech at horizon he told me the problem with the standard 8717 on 8V is if it binds its easy to burn the pot out. I also have my 600 with the same set up and all is good.

Probably a good idea to do your setup on 5 or 6v before you jump to 8Vs

for those of you who have damaged servos and suspect was a result of using the Align 3G, have you had the servo manufacturer check out the servos to find out what failed and maybe suggest a possible cause?

Did the pot burn out, did the motor windings fry, did the control burn up? All of these things can be the result of a number of causes.

Like I said earlier, if you don't troubleshoot the problem properly, then any blaming or pointing finger is baseless.

There is a reason they failed and it was initiated by one or a combination of a few things:

1. Human error
2. defective part
3. wear and tear
